Re: The European Super League Megathread
fans have very little say because they know most fans will watch regardless. the athletes, the big stars are the ones who should have more pull in this; but unlike the nba, football stars have never been known to pull collectively on anything, they barely know the kind of power they have , and management knows this. they know stars will just 'shut up and dribble'

Where was all this rage when Premier League was busy creating a disparity between them and rest of Europe by allowing oil money to bankroll their football clubs and inflate the market? Super league was a consequence of this. There's no denying it.

There is no draft in football and it changes everything
In NBA a third of the league is tanking expecting to be rewarded the first draft pick. Half of the games are such poor quality there's no need to even watch.
The beauty of football: clubs pay for their mediocrity. Either relegated or they don't participate in european comps. Arsenal and Spurs have not won a league title in decades, certainly they don't have higher chances now. Dortmund might enter at some point, for more money in the bank but almost guaranteed to finish bottom half of standings forever. Disparity will occur within the Superleague so it will be a majority of empty games, no reward no consequences.

Re: The European Super League Megathread
To do this now, when fans don't have a voice, is the absolute apex of scummery.
These people are evil. Woodward, Kroenke, Agnelli, these are despiccable villains. Bad guys. Scum.
Damn Perez for spearheading this.
Fans need to stand up and demand a stop, and then they need to work at prying their clubs out of the hands of the financial industry that will stop at nothing
They will need to demand their CEOs, presidents to step down, and their owners to sell.
This is the end of football.

If UEFA die with this, nobody would shed a tear but its irrelevant.
A league in which founding members can never be relegated and the same 15 teams play each other every single season? Boring, ridiculous and pathetic.
It's a nightmare and it's absolutely unbelievable to me they would dare proposing this

its easy for everyone to talk now, but if neville and carragher were active players they wouldn't have said a word. there have been many unnecessary money chasing club competitions, that have only been terminated because the clubs or the football governing bodies said so....players have hardly utilized their voice in these matters when they're playing. then when they retire they start trying to be active. if this is a concern for players then they need to start speaking up, not waiting til they retire

Not everyone shares your opinion, the internet collates like-minded people, hence we live in a bubble
Believe it or not many people support the ESL already, despite the backlash

they've had viewership problems for the past few years, they're also going through a transition phase at the moment as they've been considering changes to the format style of the league. Perhaps reducing games, or joining conferences for playoff seeding, etc etc.
But the product is still selling well enough, it's a star-driven league with inner-politics favouring the bigger cities and markets like LA, Boston, San Fransicso, NY. But franchises from other cities still do well enough to win every now and then.
They've also been investing in Africa, as there are already academies and leagues sponsored by them ongoing there.

What would you rejoice if the players are banned from representing their countries? this only penalizes NTs and players who had nothing to do with this. Such a misplaced assignment of blame.

He's at the end of his career and largely irrelevant outside of the Pool/PL fraternity.
Maybe they should ask these questions to those players whose opinions really matter.. Most likely you won't get any response or they'll probably dodge/evade the question.

He was the LFC captain on the night the only team is by force on the media right now. Klopp is on the same page.
Bamford going at it as well. What a man.
