What Crim said, but Berlu, Perez and Abramovich being main ideologists behind it want to make it divisional: top dogs in first divisions, lesser in 2nd etc. And obtaining of certain number of top places in division gives you promotion

Mostly, but I wouldn't put 4 french teams in. 2 french teams and 2 portuguese teams seems fairer. Porto and Benfica are very good teams.

Problem with this is what to make of teams from the Netherlands and Portugal. I'd say Top 2 from the top 5 european leagues and then make a round-robin championship between the next 20 best teams for the top 10 spots.

Why would french teams get 2 places while Benfica and Porto have to qualify for it? Porto has 2 CL + 2 EL (3 of them in the past 10 years) and Benfica has 2 CL. On the french side you have Marseille with 1 CL, and that's it. Doesn't seem fair to me. Portuguese teams have been vastly superior in international competitions.

it would be a cool if they played it once say in every 5 years or so! and the process of being there is depending how they do in the champions league! and maybe finalists of europa league!

Fair points. I actually think competing for it would be the fairest thing. For example: take the 40 top teams (not sure how this would be determined), divide that into two round robin leagues of 20 and make the top 10 of each league go through. That, in my opinion, would be the fairest way of determining this. But it's probably also the least practical.

Champions League-ish system. Top 3 countries get 4 places, next 2 3, Portugal and Netherlands maybe 2 each, the smaller leagues one each, then for the smaller countries a qualifying tournament... then divide them all into two divisions based on club coefficient or something.

I'd be more interested in a super league that consists of all champions from most leagues in the world. it would be AMAZING to see the likes of Boca, Galaxy, Santos etc.. take on European teams. Granted, it would be difficult with flights and the jet-lag the players get would be out of this world. ohh to dream

^ Would be mind blowing. It would be a complete festival if you ask me, especially if advertised and branded right.
But on the basis of the European Super League, I think, the Top 2 of the previous season league standings from Spain, Italy, Germany, England, France, Portugal and Netherlands should get in.
Those are 14 spots.
For the next 6 spots, it should be fought out between the 3rd of the top divisions (refer above), the top team of Scotland, Russia, Turkey and... any one between Greece, Belgium, Ukraine, Serbia and Switzerland (Depending on Fifa Ranking or Uefa Coefficient {thats the right word, right?})
Also, the country that has the current Champions League Winner gets to take an extra team from their country (as in the 4th team).
So that makes 12 teams for 6 spots, all in a knock out contest, with the winners directly walking into the Super League.
And there you go, 20 teams for a kick ass contest.
It should be held after every five years or after every second European Championship.

Distance is a problem when Russia is included. Tjheir eastern teams are so far away. If Okean Nakhodka, Luch-Energia Vladivostok or SKA-Energia Khabarovsk got in the competition teams would have to travel to Siberia. From Portugal a 12 hour flight?

The Super League just wouldn't work. CL and EL are enough IMO.
