Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Southpaw 7/10
Had potential to be better, I appreciated it until the moment after he wins the charity match and 50 gives him 6 weeks, it was rushed from that point. Wrong cast for the wife role, don't know her name but her face and demeanor are a bit skanky, it should have been someone more gentle and vulnerable, easier to connect to. Should have given Hoppy more time and some more backstory so that his death would be more tragic and have a bigger influence on the film, this way it was irrelevant and failed to do what it should. The southpaw should have been a bigger moment, he should be shown training it harder and struggling to do it time and time over, it was given 10 seconds screen time FFS. His entourage should have played a bigger role, being with him on the top and abandoning him later, even Jon Jon was barely introduced. I get the impression the film was 60 minutes long, and it was 2 hours. Too much time wasted in the early phase.
Could have been far better.

The Martian
Dat final space sequence https://i.imgur.com/mo7zYc9.png
Dat geeky science by Watney
Damon doing his best to copy Leo DiCaprio's look
Dat Iron Man doe https://i.imgur.com/mo7zYc9.png
All in all, it was very good indeed. Amazing shots of (supposed) Mars, quite funny as well. I feel though some of the other crew members were underdone, but probably excuse that because of limited screen time. And then apart from a few pacing problems throughout the narrative, there's not much to complain about.
4/5
By the way, that supposed Mars is Wadi Rum, Jordan.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Question: NASA is not usually super open about everything they’re working on, or lending their names to projects without their approval. How difficult was it to get their OK for “The Martian?”
Drew Goddard: It's a big deal. They're very protective about that. Rightfully so. We knew we really need their support for this movie. So much of the movie celebrates what they do that it felt, if they said, "No, we don't care for this movie," it felt like we were doing something wrong.
That's not what this movie should be. We involved them. ....As soon as Ridley got the script to where he was happy, he sent it to NASA right away and they were really happy. They got on board very quickly. They saw it for what we wanted them to see it as, which is a celebration of them. I think they're really happy with it. From that point forward it was easy. Their only big note when they saw the movie was that the offices are way too nice for NASA people. It was funny.
One of the things I'm sad we couldn't get in the movie, just because we couldn't find it, but the thing that's cool about JPL is that there are just deer running around all outside. It's in Pasadena; they're just all eating lunch and deer are running by. That’s bizarre. That's weird. Those are the things that I get excited about. The geniuses of the world have deer grazing in their lunchroom. That's crazy. If we put that on the screen everyone would be like, "What?"
loooooool that would've been

Didn't state anything like that though just that I've seen. Not a huge list. And generally not a fan of those films. This one is something special. Never seen myself cry this many times in a single film

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Just watched it.
Was fantastic. Matt Damon is a phenomenal actor. Really liked how they didn't portray him to be some sort of magician who could fix anything. And he acted brilliantly in every situation.
That scene in the final act of the film was unbelievable.
Overall the film was a 'feel good' film. Wouldn't say it was extraordinary but it wasn't supposed to be one either. A good simple script enhanced by great acting and very appropriate humour in places.
8.7/10

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
You love suspense so I say yes. It is very edge of the seat according to everyone. Strong acting performances and outstanding cinematography. Cinematography is beautiful. Stiff competition at Oscars though with The Revenant and Macbeth.

jealous.
Go for it RG. Denis Villeneuve hasn't disappointed me yet. Year-end best film in 2013 (Prisoners), another top 10 in Enemy last year. And Incendies is one of my favourite foreign films.
