I don't care it's universally loved, it's just so overrated, it's effing unbelievable. The series has aged horribly in every sense of the word, I'm not going to act like I liked some ancient history franchise just because it was the first of its kind. Hell, there are better films about space wars and aliens today, but they can't be compared to SW because they didn't come first.
Freeza never said anything about that though, just that it will be cultural milestone. It's gonna be massive whether you like it or not lol.
Also what space films are these

It would be hipster if I pretentiously acted like I like Star Wars, like so many idiots do.

Well, I argue that it should NOT be massive. It's just not good enough on any level to be massive.
2001: A Space Odyssey now that's impressive. That should be cherished. Stanley Kubrick
Well, let's see Serenity and the whole Firefly universe is so much better.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Listen RO drop this right here right now.
Not trying to fight McAgger's war here, but shit be me if you actually call someone a hipster for not liking a certain film franchise which has a huge following.
Nothing is hipster about that, when I know other people (including myself) as well who are not fans of the franchise. Does that make us all hipsters then?????!! Well shit.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Actually, it's the exact opposite of what you suggest, McAgger. "Hipster" in the derogatory sense refers to someone who is intentionally acting in a way that is divergent from the majority of the crowd, particularly on tastes in a certain area. So in this instance, being so vehemently against the widely accepted stance (without actually having experienced all of the films to which you refer) that the original Star Wars films were both good AND culturally significant does indeed put you in the "hipster" category.
And for what its worth, the most objective means of measuring films' quality and impact both stand with Freeza in this instance.
El Gunner:
Given the rigidity of his stance and his refusal to accept even the basic points that have been made regarding Star Wars' cultural impact, I'm perfectly within reason to suggest that his stance can be considered this. It's one thing to think that movies aren't as good as many feel, it's another entirely to refer to them as complete crap and to refuse to acknowledge that the movies are, in fact, massively influential and impactful. Your stance on the issue has been much more measured than his, from what I have seen, and to this point you have not refused to accept or acknowledge the importance/influence of the movies despite your dislike for them. So no, despite your best efforts here, my statement cannot be said to be generalizing all who aren't fans of the franchise as you attempted to do.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Look I love Firefly but it has a better universe than Star Wars...that's a first. I am serious.
One can't deny the amazing and well crafted universe Star Wars built. You can easily read one article on Wookiepedia and end up spending four hours there.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Agreed with McAgger and El G
I saw the recent 3 movies and the first two (New Hope, Empire Strikes Back) didn't enjoy them as much as i wanted to, ESB was more doable and better out of the rest though. It felt like a chore to watch them because everyone is raving about what an amazing film series it is and that i have to watch it. I personally think pop culture/references ruined it to me, its like they shove it down your throat that you don't get to enjoy it as a first time viewer. If i haven't seen any SW references before and saw the movies commando style, i think i would've enjoyed it a lot more. Anyways I'm hoping Episode 7 turns out to be a great movie

It's like Michael Bay intentionally does the explosion thing these days just to rub it in our faces.

Mission Impossible. Amazing action film, Tom Cruise is the GOAT action star, not even a question anymore at this point, if it ever was.

Didn't like the two first, 3 was enjoyable, 4 was really good. This one was more entertaining than all combined imo.

Lol brev Ghost Protocol pls.
Uhm, MI2 was my favourite movie for sometime when I was younger
Still enjoy that ending when he's on the bike, and they end up on the mountain/cliff somehow.
