Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
He is more than good enough... but a very different player. He's an attacking fullback. Giroud and Ozil would throw a party if he signed.

He is, but I expected someone who's better defensively than Debuchy. For once I hope Ashley rejects all our offers. Please...

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
If Schneiderlin is going to be the midfielder in front of the back 4, it makes a lot of sense to sign an attacking fullback. Schneiderlin is very defensive.

How it all looks like, we aren't signing a defensive midfielder, we'll go with Arteta/Flamini for one more season.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
How many defensively good right backs are out there, though? Debuchy isn't even bad defensively. He actually trumps Sagna in number of tackles, interceptions and headers won.
Schneiderlin links are starting to pick up again.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
There was Juanfran, Lichtsteiner, Vrsaljko off the top of my head, plenty of right backs who can defend as well as attack. I hope, if we sign him, he proves me wrong but I find it hard to see him improve, he's 29. Oh well, hopefully Bellerin/Jenkinson can take over in 2015, in the meantime let's prepare for some awful brainfarts and big losses in big matches.

l agree. Need to stop worrying about a certain fullback because they are "inconsistent" or something.
How many top quality two way fullbacks are there in the world ? like, 2? lol. Everton had the best defensive record in the Prem last year didn't they? Or at least one of the best, and they were playing Baines and Seamus friggin' coleman.
Gibbs is WC defensively and Jenko is a quality defender too. We can afford to bring in an offensive minded fullback

I hope so mate, but it's not looking good. Not enough strong links for DM's, Ornstein not mentioning a DM in his yearly "Arsenal targets" news, and Flamini being signed for 3 years. And quite frankly Wenger won't have 3 defensive midfielders in his team, unless we sell one of Arteta/Flamini I don't see us signing a DM.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I agree with Sina's motion to sign two RBs if they are available and at the right price.
Why not. Aurier is pretty cheap and he is young. Jenko could benefit greatly from a loan out and watching Aurier, he would be great as a right midfielder. Eboue/Lauren 2.0 imo.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Signing Aurier and Debuchy would mean one of Jenkinson/Bellerin don't have a future at the club.
Not that we should avoid signing quality players for youth prospects but it seems that the club are investing some stock in Bellerin and rightly so, hopefully.

Barcelona director Zubizarreta on Alexis:
"There have been offers. Not sure what will happen. If he stays, then great"
On Pedro:
"Not available for transfer"

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
So it's the decision of Alexis that he wants to move on from Barca? Or is it the desire of his agent? Or that of Barcelona? Or quite simply, the media?

Juve can't agree with Lichtsteiner on his new contract because of his wage demands, he wants 3 million euros which Juve don't want to pay. This is where we need to get in.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Yep in Italy they don't pay players nearly as much as they do in PL. That's chump change for most PL teams.

Probably a dumb question but why is that? Why do even the big italian teams have trouble generating money?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Small unfilled stadiums, less TV money which goes back to Serie A's media exposure, poorer sponsorships, Milan and Inter still play in the same stadium which they don't own, no more sugardaddies and lack of success in Europe.
