How did Suarez become available this summer, again?

He hasn't; he's just become Barcelona's newest obsession. Whether anything comes of it is unknown at this point.

I can't for the life of my figure out why Barca would want to invest so much cash in Suarez. He'd either be shifted out to the flank, or he'd shift Messi out to the flank. Either way, why spend so much money on a player who is slightly older, significantly crazier, and less good than your own best forward (and the best player in the world)? Why!?!?

But ... if this obsession is true at all, and helps Arsenal get Alexis, I am happy to live without understanding this Barca obsession.

Reports: Liverpool tell Barcelona they do not want Sanchez in Suarez deal, want straight cash meaning Barca may sell to Arsenal to help fund move. Chilean prefers Arsenal after Wenger met with agent in Brazil.

Conflicting reports claim Liverpool do want Sanchez.

And for what it's worth, Kike Marin claims we've lodged a 25m bid for him. Didn't specify if € or £.

Barca paid €26m for him in 2011.

The way I see it, Barcelona won't let Sanchez go until they've brought someone in, be it Suarez or Cuadrado or whoever they're targeting. Makes no sense for them to simply let Sanchez go otherwise.

It's one of those that'll rumble on for a while, I think... or until Liverpool categorically rule out selling Suarez.

Reports in Twitter suggesting that we have secured the signing of Debuchy. Not sure what to make of this, but NUFC fans seem to rate him higher than Sagna , and see him as the best right back in the PL.

This is very much a situation we can get burnt from playing with, just as we barely escaped last year with Özil.

But if Barcelona are serious about Suarez then it's worth waiting for Sanchez.

He is good going forward but I have never been convinced by his defending.

Newcastle fans rate him over Sagna as much as we rated Sagna over him. It goes both ways.

I've always been sceptical about his defending but honestly Debuchy is a decent player. If Arsene thinks he is the right choice, then he probably is.

His age also means that we can give more time to Bellerin hmm

It's the Daily Star that are saying we'll sign Debuchy; no doubt jumping on the info from Info Sport Plus. Daily Mail saying we'll bid £11mil for him. Other reports saying Ashley wants £12mil for him.

Seems a bit pricey considering we can get Aurier for cheaper.

On Sanchez: Arsenal have to be decisive. They can't afford to wait, and then in the end pull out because of the fee or wages. They must have back-up targets ready to go for if it doesn't work out because we really need that forward signing.
