Go on relying for a full season on VIdal picking up key passes, we will see how it ends...Tomwin Lannister wrote:Well neither are actual attacking mids so that means very little. Vidal is good enough at picking out key passes anyway

4-3-3
Two quality wide men, midfield with Vidal and Pogba in it.
More than good enough, an improvement on what we have. Absolutely no need to go spend 40M on some CAM.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Pogba isn't a CAM so it wouldn't work. I think they're going to have to sell one of Pogba or Vidal this summer for a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 to work.
If they go 4-3-3 it would be:
-----------Pirlo/DM
--Vidal/Pogba----Marchisio/technical playmaker B2B CM
4-2-3-1:
----------Vidal----Pirlo
--------------CAM

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
especially since Vidal doesn't pick passes most of the time... he's the one making scoring runs into the box and getting the passes. Vidal has the lowest number of assists compared to Pirlo and Pogba. Vidal has 5 assists. Pirlo has 7, Pogba has 9 and Marchisio has 1. These guys are not final ball guys... none of them. They are good at it in relation to what position they play (deep playing mid, regista and B2B). But in no universe are they CAMs.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
3-5-2 offers absolutely zero link between midfield and attack and we've done more than ok with our midfield
Add in 2 quality wingers and we'll be fine. No need for a CAM unless we do indeed sell Pogba.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
I agree with almost all that is said above.
On paper that midfield doesn't look bad, but it will show the weaknesses of Vidal and Pogba creating a good number of chances for the attack. And Pogba's best position is NOT as a CAM.
So what's my conclusion?
Juve will lose a good number of chances created if Pirlo is dropped, but they could do with a good DM. So I dunno?

Juve need to drop the 352 and go to a 433. You can put a creator in the front 3 and Bonnucci has not convinced me at all this season. Problems solved. But Conte is stubborn.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Yep, tbf to Conte nobody actually knows if he wanted to go 4-3-3 or not.
He did, in fact, play 4-3-3 to begin with. But he didn't trust Krasic or Elia at all and Pepe was injured, then 3-5-2 came in to accommodate Bonucci and Pirlo
He couldn't possibly switch to 4-3-3 this season as we had no actual wingers. Now there's rumours all over the globe that we want to switch to 4-3-3 so we'll see if Conte goes for it.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
The other problem with the 433 is that you need a genuine game winner on one of your wing. There arent any out on the market if any actually.

Hulk/Vela/Griezmann/Sanchez are all decent options imo. All capable of playing on the wing and scoring.

Apparantly we're interested, Barca are willing to sell and obviously he's a good friend of Vidals

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. II
Not really. This "game-winner" thing is overblown... as long as you have a dominant area on the pitch and you're solid in the others, you will be a top club. For example, if Juve were to buy Rakitic for example and put him on a line with Llorente and Tevez, that's plenty of attacking power... especially with Pogba and Vidal who can both score. The midfield of Pirlo-Vidal-Pogba would be dominant. Barzagli-Chiellini would be excellent while Lichsteiner-Asamoah should do the job.
The issue with Juve is that it goes through periods of really poor attack and the team can't score DUE to the reliance on Pirlo to be the creative force. The team needs a second creative force imo.

Would be a good buy for many mid table teams. Might even go back to Everton?
