Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Nobody knows what's going on with the Gervinho deal. If you read back a couple of pages in this thread, you'll see why. We probably won't hear anything about it until July 1st at the earliest.
In any case, it seems we're willing to buy Alvarez alongside Gervinho and both deals are currently in doubt, so signing Mata along with one of them isn't too unrealistic (without considering expenditure, of course).

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
A few tweets from Jamie Sanderson, the Young Guns blogger, on the Alvarez deal:
Olé, who have been leading the way on the Álvarez story, say Arsenal have offered €12m and talks will continue next week.
Olé also report that while Arsenal are favourites, Schalke 04 and Manchester City have now entered the race.
(In response to someone claiming Ole wasn't a good source for reliable news) I've found it good before, and an Argentine journalist confirmed to me its a good source. Good enough for me.
My interpretation of situation is that Vélez are holding out for a bigger offer, but Álvarez wants Arsenal. I'm expecting this to drag on.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Sky Sports are now running the story that Arsenal have yet to make a formal bid for Gervinho. They say that negotiations are still ongoing regardless.
The Sun also has the story, though that probably doesn't mean much:
GERVINHO inched his way closer to a £12million switch to Arsenal last night after Lille admitted: He wants to move to the Emirates.
The Gunners could land the 24-year-old Ivory Coast striker in the next few days as his French club need to raise money to buy St Etienne winger Dimitri Payet.
Lille president Michel Seydoux said: "I have spoken with Gervinho and he wants to play for Arsenal next season.
"This is clear but now we must get an agreement between the two clubs.
"We have maintained contact but still the Londoners have not presented us with a formal offer.
"Negotiations are ongoing but Gervinho has demanded a solution to the situation soon."
Arsenal hoped to pay £10.5m for the World Cup star, who was a target for Spurs and Newcastle earlier this year, but are expected meet the asking price.
Gervinho scored 15 goals last season as he helped Lille to the French title.
The champs want to wrap up the Payet deal quickly as they fear Liverpool or Paris St Germain could hijack their move for the French international.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
The targets seem to change every week. At the minute from what I hear on twitter from the most trusted sources, Cahill, Gervinho and Mata are the 3 most likely to arrive. Sadly the arrivals of Mata and Gervinho could probably mean Fabregas could leave, however I don't see fabregas leaving if Nasri leaves. Wenger is not in a position to allow both to leave after 6 years of no trophies.
Samba, is my first choice cb, powerful cb who whilst not great on the floor, is a beast in the air and has great physical strength.
Ricky Alvarez reportedly closer to Inter Milan than Arsenal now which is why we are now going for Mata.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Premier League giants Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Arturo Vidal.
According to reports in the German daily, Bild, Arsene Wenger's outfit are searching for a new midfielder because of the ongoing uncertainty regarding the futures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, who are being linked with moves to Barcelona and Manchester United respectively, and have identified Vidal as an alternative should either player move on.
Wenger has reportedly contacted a number of Bundesliga coaches to gather information on the Chile international, and he is ready to launch a bid for the player.
The 24-year-old has a contract with Leverkusen until 2012, and an offer in the region of €15 million (£13.3m) is likely to be required to lure him away from the Champions League qualifiers.
Vidal has previously been linked with Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Napoli, but Leverkusen are reluctant to sell their star midfielder to another Bundesliga side, while sporting director Rudi Voller claimed that AC Milan's €10m (£8.8m) offer was insufficient.

So many rumours.
The mata news really excites me. If its betweem mata and gervinho there can be only one choice. If we keep cesc and mata comes we will be really strong. However mata coming could mean either cesc or nasri will be gone.
I am not sure about alvarez he could be a very costly gamble.

If mata and Gervinho comes then it will mean one thing , Cesc will play his last season with Arsenal :S
Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Where's Vidal going to play though? I haven't watched him much before but correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he a DM or CM? I don't see Wilshere being replaced and Song has played well throughout the season. He's a fantastic player though and I would love it if he came here.
On the Mata rumour, I'd love it to be true although he is smaller than Arshavin apparently which worries me that he might get shoved off the ball a lot. An attacking combo of VP, Mata on the left, Nasri on the right, with Fab in the middle excites me

I really don't know who to believe lol, this is just too funny.
According to the Lille president Michel Seydoux, there has been no official offer from the Gunners, and Gervinho is becoming frustrated at the lack of movement on the deal.
Seydoux said: “I have spoken with Gervinho and he wants to play for Arsenal next season.
I love players like Gervinho who turn down big money to play for a club they love and dream about, I know its only matter of time before we get him.

I want to know who this dumb ass is coming and saying this, we want Cesc to stay, unless we know for sure we have replacement for him. We all know at the right price any player can be bought, his answer should have been we will do everything to keep Cesc.
The Gunners rejected two bids from Barcelona last summer, and last week turned down a further offer in the region of £27 million.
However, Fabregas has made no secret of desire to return to the Camp Nou and, amid reports Barca are readying an improved bid, it appears Arsenal are ready to cash in.
A senior Arsenal official told the BBC: "The offer was made formally in writing to our chief executive, and we said no straight away."
When asked if the club expected an improved offer this week, the source added: "Possibly, yes, and if it's enough then I expect we'll have to sell."
Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes feels signing Fabregas would represent good business.
"It would be a major boost for the team," he said. "I don't know whether it will take a long time, but what I do know for certain is that he wants to return to his boyhood club."
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/
Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has said he believes Fabregas' value has fallen since last year.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
The agent of Valencia playmaker Juan Mata has remained coy on the future of the 23-year-old following speculation over the youngster’s future. While revealing Mata was unaware of an offer from Arsenal the player’s representative and father insisted that they will look at proposals from potential suitors this summer.
Mata was a key protagonist in the Spanish U-21 European Championship this summer and according to a report in the Daily Mail this morning is the subject of an £18m (€20.2m) offer from Arsenal.
Liverpool are also rumoured to be interested in the player but speaking to Arseblog News Juan Mata Snr revealed he was unaware of an offer from Arsenal, but would not rule out a move this summer. He said, “We’ve just returned from the U21 championships and my son has gone on holidays. As of today we haven’t spoken to anybody.
“I don’t know if Valencia have received a proposal from Arsenal or any other club. We will wait to hear from them”.
Asked if Arsenal would be of interest to his son he said, “I know Arsenal is a big club, a very important club in England, always in the Champions League, but it’s up to any club to pay the required amount to Valencia. Then we can look at the proposals”.
When asked the value Los Che have placed on the youngster he replied, “You would have to ask Valencia”.
Spanish publication Sport claims the release clause for Mata is €20m.

Never. RVP has so much over Bendtner, its not even funny.

Well there's nothing new in this report .
We all know that Arsenal will sell Cesc when the right offer comes , But so far Barca offered 27M ( ROFLMFAO )
So i guess we should start worrying when Barca are willing to offer more than 40M

Two things:
1) Fabregas is not leaving until Barcelona pay up, which is something that doesn't seem likely to happen at this point.
2) We will have done extremely well to get £50,000,000 for him. Why would you be "done and dusted" with our board if we get, what would be, a pretty outstanding sum of money for Fabregas?

Here we go again:
@JamesOlley: #Arsenal set to confirm #Gervinho and #Cahill deals this week. £12m for former, #Cahill yet to be finalised. Has £17m release clause though.
@JamesOlley: Possible Cahill could end up being player plus cash. Deal still being discussed but all parties expect a move soon.
@JamesOlley: Ha! Gervinho virtually done, Cahill less so - that one is more complicated but Arsenal confident.
Think I may do a summary of the window so far.

Theres already a list of players we have been linked with.. A summary of the window would just be repeating the names in the list again! No point right now.. Do it after the window closes..

Just thinking it could possibly be Bartley plus cash. Us signing Cahill would mean that Bartley will have very limited opportunities in the first team in the near and distant future, so it would make sense to give them Bartley as part of the deal. More so than anyone else, who aren't quite at the required level to play for Bolton and I doubt that they'll accept a loan + cash in exchange for one of their better players.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
At this rate neither are going to become first team players for us. Hypothetically speaking, if we sign Cahill we're going to have four centre backs who have an average age of 25 and all of them will be approaching their prime.
So for the sake of the deal it'd have to be Bartley. Bartley is much further along in his development than Miquel is and Bolton would probably be more willing to take on a more experienced, developed player than someone who's only made two F.A. Cup appearances.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It'd still be a shame to lose either of them though.. But you do have a point, all our first choice defenders are 24-25 and just reaching their primes.. This is also a reason why we aren't moving for younger defenders like Sakho, there is no necessity! No matter how good a buy, it'd still be a luxury signing.
However, I am not entirely sold on Cahill or Samba.. Esp not 17mil for Cahill.. 10mil for Samba is okay but if BRFC actually think they can hold out for 15, they can suck it.
Whats the price on Vertonghen's head? I think he is better than Cahill, though still in the same 23-25 age.
