Raptorgunner wrote:This news come from TalkSport who report, through sources of Ukraine, that the Gunners have bid 12 million pounds plus Denilson to sign the Brazilian midfielder and that they must reply to the offer before the weekend. If this news is true, then I believe it's too much of an offer. Yes, Willian is a talented and skillful player, but the offer is a bit too high in my opinion. Nonetheless, I like Willian and he could be a fine addition to the squad and he can be a worthy acquisition.
What you guys make of this? great if this goes through.
I'm not sure about him. I've not seen Willian play at all, but I assume he's your typical Brazillian winger; pacey, immensely skillful, but slightly lacking in end product, consistency and physical presence. It's always a risk bringing in player of this type to the Premier League.
Also, though it might be good to get rid of Denilson, Shakhtar don't want him. £12,000,000 is also a bit steep.
This player has been linked with the Gunners for the past few months, he is making waves in the Brazilian League with his high scoring rate and impressive performances with his club Internacional. The player is now a Brazilian international and is being linked with the best clubs in Europe, the player I'm talking about is Internacional sensation Leandro Damiao.
Leandro Damiao was born on July 22, 1989 in Jardem Alegre, Brazil. Leandro Damiao isn't like any other Brazilian sensation that you know of, he's not the Neymar, Robinho, Pato and many others who are hyped up by Youtube videos and such. Damiao took his chance the hard way, he was struggling to get a pro contract with his current club when he was 17. So Damiao, displaying his determination, decided to test his luck in the Brazilian lower divisions where he displayed his talent, especially in finishing and scoring goals. Internacional, finally gave him his chance and he has so far taken it brilliantly. Leandro Damiao is a truly gifted player who is known for his determination and his skill, especially inside the box. He stands at a bit over 6'1" which assists him greatly aerially, he is a real presence inside the box with his predator instincts and clinical finishes, both with his head and feet. He is mobile, quick and skillful with the ball as well.
He is nicknamed "Damigol" by his fans at Internacional and has had a superb season so far with Internacional, scoring 22 goals in 24 matches, which brought the attention of Brazil national team coach Mano Menezes and was called up for the friendly against Scotland in the Emirates Stadium. Leandro Damiao is reportedly being targeted by the North London rivals, Arsenal and Tottenham and also by Spanish side Barcelona. Damiao is valued by transfermarkt.co.uk at around 5.7 million pounds and is being reported that both Arsenal and Tottenham, are willing to pay as much as 10 million pounds to sign this rising star. He has scored 29 goals in 53 appearances so far with Internacional.

Likewise, I haven't seen this guy at all but he seems to have a physical presence that might see him adapt well to the rigours of the Premier League. Whether or not we need him though is another matter, as we already have three strikers at the club.

Premier League
What would this column do without Arsenal and Manchester City? Even on the most uninspiring mornings, when the empty transfer rumours of past summers are rattling around the cupboard, you can always rely on finding a couple of lines about the "Arsenal Exodus" or "City Eye £50m bid for [insert high-profile European club]", lying amidst the dregs and cast-offs of lesser transfer tat.
And today is no different. Arsenal, for example, are ready to tell Samir Nasri he is "going nowhere", according to the Mirror. With Cesc Fabregas set to seal his "dream move" to Barcelona, high-minded aesthete Arsene Wenger is prepared to let Nasri leave for nothing next summer rather than sell the diminutive Frenchman for £25m to one of Manchester United, Inter Milan or Manchester City. Seems unlikely but who are we to judge?

Meanwhile, Wenger is considering signing the first decent English player of his 15-year Arsenal tenure with a cheeky punt on Everton left-back Leighton Baines, according to unconfirmed reports.

(TribalFootball) The football news site is reporting that Villareal are set to launch a bid for Arsenal’s wantaway midfielder Denilson. The Yellow Submarine are in need of midfield help and have made the Brazillian a possible target
Now that is some positive news. Denilson would do decently in Villareal, its La Liga afterall.. I'd be happy with 7-8 million for him, and thats stretching it..
Benefica? Bendy's dad is going to be disappointed - no Bundesliga for Bendy!

Apparently there wasn't any serious interest from us this summer, and all the stories of us making bids and Samba being close to signing were all fabrications.
Only things for certain on this front is Samba wanting to move to a bigger club and Blackburn wanting £15,000,000+ for him. Suffice to say, I think this one is dead.

i think it'd be nice if we landed damiao for 10 million pounds. that goal scoring ratio is impressive, but they've said he'll likely end up going to tottenham because he's cool with Sandro

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
This is just speculation on my part, but it seems we're holding back on making a bid for Gary Cahill in an attempt to get him cheaper. Coyle is getting impatient since no one has made a bid, and Cahill himself apparently is getting a bit frustrated and wants to move on. By holding back and perhaps making a late bid, Bolton might lower their asking price.
We'll see, though. Personally, I don't think we will sign a centre back.
Anyway, saw this on Twitter:
Dani Alves to radio station RAC1: “I am convinced Cesc will join us. Arsenal are in tourist class, Barcelona are in business class.”
Be gentle.

You know what will happen:
- Anyone who hates Barcelona will call Alves and his club classless and various derogatory names.
- Barcelona fans will say Alves was misquoted, misinterpreted, is humble and respectful, etc.
- Madrid fans will come in and call Alves classess and then start listing off other classless moments from Barcelona.
- Barcelona fans will do likewise with Madrid.
- Thread succesfully derailed.

If we everything Marca said was true, Fabregas has been a Barcelona player for the last three years.
They go from one bullshit story to the next. First they say Cesc will go on strike, then they're saying he's going to sell his house, now this?
Saw this on Arsenal Mania:
Uh oh, another comment from a Barca player about Cesc...
Time to pay another visit to La Masia to take another one of their youngsters.

Yep , i was acctualy thinking about the same thing but on Samba , i believe that Wenger will wait untill the deadline day to make a bid so he can lower there price a bit ( And as always he will miss on them -.-)
And about Alves , I think someone should take legal action on him
Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal have turned down Manchester United's opening offer for Samir Nasri and told the champions they will not sell the Frenchman unless they receive a bid of at least £25m. United must now decide whether they are willing to meet the asking price and put together an improved financial package after it emerged on Wednesday they had placed an offer of just under £20m two weeks ago.
The clubs had agreed at the time not to publicise the bid but it is now clear that United, having already spent £50m on Phil Jones, David de Gea and Ashley Young, have made the first decisive move towards bringing Nasri to Old Trafford and reinforcing their position as the major force in the summer transfer market so far.
At the same time, they are threatening to make it an even more traumatic summer for Arsène Wenger, who is already faced by the near-certainty of Cesc Fábregas's departure to Barcelona and now confronted by the distinct possibility of losing another of his key players. Nasri is due to return to Arsenal for pre-season training on Thursday and the expectation is that the 24-year-old, in the final year of his contract, will inform the club he wants to leave. Arsenal are willing to award him a vastly improved salary but they will still find it difficult to compete with the money on offer from Old Trafford.
The news of United's bid may trigger counter-offers from Manchester City, Internazionale and Chelsea, who have monitored Nasri's potential availability and are weighing up whether to turn their interest into something more concrete.
City distanced themselves from reports last week they had made a £20m bid, saying there had been no talks between themselves and Arsenal and that, at that stage, none were planned. They are, however, reconsidering their options after the failed move for Alexis Sánchez of Udinese. Should they decide to compete against United, City would also be confident they have the financial power to offer Nasri the best deal. The difficulty for Arsenal is that Nasri will be available as a free transfer in a year's time and, unless he signs a new contract, his value will start to depreciate sharply. Wenger, therefore, must decide whether it would be better for the club to cash in on the player and put the money towards rebuilding.

You know what bugs me most about this story? This bit:
It's not a near certainty, is it?

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
ARSENE WENGER is closing in with his bid to sign winger Juan Mata even though the Arsenal futures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri are yet to be resolved.
Despite refusing to sign a new contract, amid interest from both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Inter and AC Milan, Nasri has been told he must attend the Gunners’ pre-season tour of Malaysia and China.
A hamstring injury has conveniently ruled Barcelona target Fabregas out of Sunday’s trip. But Wenger has opened negotiations with Valencia over Mata, who has a £22million contract clause that would allow him to speak to Arsenal.
Expecting to sell Fabregas to Barca, Wenger has lined up Mata, 23, as one of his primary targets. Regardless of whether Nasri stays or goes, Mata is very much in Arsenal’s sights.
Tottenham and Liverpool have also watched Spaniard Mata, but the Reds have focused their attention on trying to sign Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing.
Mata would be attracted by the prospect of playing Champions League football at Arsenal and, unlike Nasri, his wage demands would not be a problem.
He earns about £30,000 a week, although his clause does allow Valencia to immediately offer him a new deal before agreeing to any sale.
Arsenal, who have secured the £10.6m signing of Lille forward Gervinho, would be able to double his salary. Nasri, meanwhile, reports for pre-season training today before heading off on Arsenal’s tour.
However skipper Fabregas will stay behind to work with his physio, even if he is hoping that Arsenal can reach a compromise over his move.
Barcelona’s Dani Alves inflamed matters by saying: “I am convinced Cesc will join us. Arsenal are in tourist class; we are in business class. Any player would want to join us.”
http://www.express.co.uk/football/view/257262/Arsenal-boss-Ars%C3%A8ne-Wenger-gets-to-heart-of-Juan-Mata
------------------------------------------
I'm just imagining flogging Nasri for £25,000,000, while we spend the majority of it on Mata and give £60,000 p/w.
Now that would be excellent business.
Shame it probably won't happen.

Ha ha, a hamstring injury, my arse.
I wouldn't mind Mata at all. I'm just wondering what kind of influence Cesc would be to Mata in respect to him coming to Arsenal. I wouldn't expect Cesc to speak negatively or anything; merely the fact that Cesc and most spanish players prefer Spain to England.
