Can't agree with that sports.
In higgys first season here he was not even a starter and when he did come on he was out wide. He made a great contribution to that epic league win in 06/07 and was great for the next 3 seasons.
It wasn't a fantastci period for us but it wasn't just down to the players, the core of the club was completly destroyed. We were in dire constraints amd the heirarchy had a massive role in that.
Higgy has been one the leaders of this new era and has come leaps and bounds in the years he has been here. No doubt he will improve and so will Benz but to just blame the players for our horror period was low and you know it man.

Re: How highly do you rate Godzalo Higuain?
I rate Higgy as a good player, he scores goals, makes some good passes, presses well and works hard all the time. He has good concentration and composure which is constantly improving and he has shown that he has the ability to bounce back from adversity. Most of all though H20 is a Madridista, he has shown loyalty and respect to this club and it's badge. So whatever supporters of commoner clubs say, I will always hold Higgy in the highest regard...

Llorente is good... but you guys really need to check out his play. He is poor in his efficiency despite being a pure 9. That's a big no-no. Torres still plays over him for Spain NT ffs.

I see what you mean. I love Henry but something about Bergkamp always made him seem more special to me. He was able to adopt a deeper role almost like a SS posing as a CAM. His abilty to get the best out of his teammates was brilliant. Ian Wright and Henry are testament to this.
For me it depends on what system you want your team to play when deciding between Bergkamp and Henry. If you want your striker to drop deep and link the midfield with the attack, then it's Bergkamp but Henry was close. What was his number of assists in the PL again?
124 assists, if my source is correct. Thats 12.4 assists per season. Fabregas had 90 assists in 8 seasons which is 11.25 assists per season. Perspective.
Not the assists are the be-all and end-all of how creative players are, but it's something to go by at least

We played with two inverted wingers, unless the CF doesn't stay at the shoulder of the last defender, the AM becomes useless. The team will be forced to play through wings= very predictable and easy to defend against. +1 to Godzalo in Real Madrid's 4-2-3-1
Benz is required in tight games when we play 4-3-3. He is needed as one of the creative forwards because there wont be a lot of midfield support in away games with Lass and Khedira in teh mix

Ronaldo wanting to score goals is natural, he's perfectly replaced Raul in his later years in that regard. Fact is Higuain has been under rated even before Ronaldo.
People forget that when he came he was not that good but he improved himself and worked harder than anybody else. He has always had to live with being told he wasn't good enough. The press still try to bury him to make Uncle Flo's boy toy look better.
As a fan I'll always back Higuain because he's the type of player I want the squad to be like. That's why every coach Pipa has had has nothing but praise for him when ever they talk about him. Capello, Mourinho, Maradona. They're all crazy about him.

Wow.The football world has so many quality strikers currently.Although Messi and Ronaldo atleast for the moment would be a level above them.
Not being a sadist or something but i'm waiting for the day when their monopoly ends.I want to see more and more of pure CF's hogging the spotlight.
For now lets bask in the joy of seeing so many World Class Quality strikers emerge.

I just think that stat is astonishing for a forward and combined to the amount of goals he scored for the club. Incredible player.

IMO Benz skills are more suited for a possession football team
Higuain suits more the counter attacking as clinical finishing upfront is most important

I partially blame the players honestly. For France NT, from 1998-2006, we had Lemerre (waterboy; no joke), Santini (ego-maniac) and Domenech (lunatic). Despite this, we won the Euro and made the 2006 WC final. Why? The players took it on themselves.
Tbh, i like Higuain as a player. He is very good at his specialty. But he's not someone that i admire as a player... I feel the same about Gomez. I respect Pipita's ability; but i do not feel he has high enough quality to be a starting CF for Madrid. He'll never be top 5 in the world. Madrid should either have a top 5 CF or someone who can become a top 5 one.

He plays with a team with a piss poor midfield and carries the front-line on his back.
9? What due to his size?
He is the creative fulcrum in the front flank and always performs in big games almost always.
Torres? Albiol plays over 5 different CBs that are better and more talented then him. Whats your point?
His goalscoring ratio for us>>>>> Torres despite having less goals.
Everytime he comes on the pitch for the national he outperforms torres and has done so for over 2 years.
And yet that sulking little boy still starts ahead of him much to the protest of the country

Well if a top five player or top five potentially is what you are after then I guess Nerman will replace both Sport
Also I never recall anyone rating Morientes as top five in the world but that didn't stop him from being one of our best ever (certainly one of the most loved)
Give me Morientes over Anelka anyday (actually a great analogy of what is going on now)

Actually you said RVP>Higuain / Thread. Where in the hell does that say where you rank Higuain? Why don't you just say "I love RVP and Arsenal/ Thread?
It has nothing to do with the thread or the discussion going on about Higgy and Benz and was aimed at derailing the thread or turning it into a discussion about RVP or the EPL which is probably the only thing you have any knowledge about. Again if you want to talk about your striker go start another thread and say RVP is better then everyone / Thread

Benz becomes a total liability if Kaka and Ozil play together because the defenders could press higher (Benz not on the shoulder of the last defender) thus making both AMs totally useless

Yeah, I remember that. In Madrid's "dark period" he was the only one with drive and regularly scored goals. People wanted him offloaded once Hunterlaar came inZealous wrote:Sushi Master wrote:RM strikers will always be underrated because of Cristiano wanting to bang in all the goals.

The insane speed he came back from his injury proves his excelent attitude.
I'm sure Mourinho is going to start him a lot more often now that he's in form, since he's the closet thing to Diego Milito he's going to get.

Not with today's club Z. Besides, we brought R9 in for this very reason. If Neymar comes, CR7 moves to CF anyhow methinks. So that would be that.
Edit: Morientes played after the transfers opened up.

Sportsczy, you know I am a big fan of Llorente, but his form is off this year. He is on the bubble to make the Spanish team. Right now the #1 is Negredo. VDB gives giving Torres play to try to bring back his form & confidence and even after a so so effort yesterday, he still says he liked his effort (go figure!!). The hottest in the country right now is Soldado.
It will be only 2 or 3 of these guys that make team. Right now I would say it is in this order 1. Negredo, 2. Torres, 3. Soldado and 4. Llorente. If they go with playing 4 MF, they will use Villa as Striker (from wing) so in effect right now Llorente is #5.
As to this thread question, if Higuain keeps up his play from last 2 games he will be a top 5 and (I know you don't like this) puts Benz on wing or bench.

He didn't derail the thread, it was actually good that he brought up RVP as it allowed us to compare different types of strikers and see their similarities between current strikers and past greats. RVP has a simlar style to Benz and the great Bergkamp and we were just making a simple comparison between styles.
Don't take it so seriously man.

If anything, the whole Benz vs Higgy debate IS the derailment of this thread. If you can end up rating Higuain based on whether he's better or worse than Higgy, then you can do the same with RVP. The conclusion of the Higuain vs Benz debate is either: Benz > Higuain OR Higuain > Benz. I said RVP>Higuain.
As you can see, it's all very relevant and it's all one and the same. Now stop wasting my time and going off topic in this thread. Either stick to the topic at hand or stop posting at all. I rated Higuain as less than RVP. That was my post. You keep on trying to go off-topic for some reason, so please stop doing that. If you want to, then go start your own thread.
Thank you.
This is all very pointless, yeah? Glad you realized it.

It would be cool if Benz and Higuain were both sold to Arsenal and started next to each other... you know i think they complement each other perfectly on the field. The few times they were given a chance, they've shined. Chamberlain would be the 3rd forward.
Of course, pigs would need to fly before Arsenal would pay the required transfer + wages.
