How highly do you rate Godzalo Higuain?

Seemed like before his double hattricks everyone was so sure El Pipa was going to be benched for Benzema becouse of Benz recent form

Now I don't even know whos gonna play but in the end I think Higuains finishing is too godlike to sit in the bench when it can bang goals

I'm a Higuain fanboy, so I'm biased to the core.

Mentally I think he is one of the strongest players in the world in that regard. Never say die attitude, benched or injured will alkways give you 100% no matter what.

Not all that highly. Good player. Not someone you can build a team or an attack around... a specialist who would struggle in a huge way if he didn't have the players around him in Madrid and Argentina NT.

look at the kind of players he has played with over the years

it would be criminal to put them in the same sentence as ozil and co, yet pipita never fails to hit the net

whereas a certain someone cant score because erm...ermm.... he gets no service

how about he becomes more efficient before thinking of benching el pipa for the long term

Last year, despite having far less starts and mins, he scored 26 goals and posted a little better efficiency than Higuain's "orgasmic" (according to some) year in 2009-2010. Having one good game is not the sign of efficiency. It's a season. He's not more efficient than "that certain someone" despite taking far fewer risks comparatively. "That certain someone" does a lot more things on the pitch and, thus, takes more risks. CR7 is horrific in efficiency... but he's a creator and takes a ton of risks... so you're going to suffer with efficiency as a result. Efficiency + impact on the pitch + scope of game are all part of the formula.

Does Madrid really need a creator? They have Oezil, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Xabi Alonso, Sahin all putting in passes. In the big games, having a poacher to finish them would be more valuable than another creative force, in my obviously biased opinion.

higuain is a poacher.

hes a pure goal scorer, hes there to score goals, not specifically create them.

so elaborate ur self on that one comment sports or ill just take it as rant

any good poacher needs good service to be dangerous, and over the years hes shown his worth.

i rate higuain highly, and using my bias i place him higher than gomez and etc, hes younger too.

hope someday he becomes the best poacher in the world, if he isnt already at his best.

This i agree with,when ever higuain is on the pitch we create more one on one chances bcz he makes the right runs all the time.With Cr,ozil,kaka/di maria we dont need striker linking up and participating in build up play we need a true 9 to lead the line.

They both create tap ins, and Higuian is King of tap ins...perfect combination

My only point is that you're comparing apples to oranges really when looking at Benz and Higuain. One is a complete attacking player (creativity, dribbling, passing, playing all forward positions, great with both feet), while the other is a specialist (poacher and sometimes right wing). In terms of who is the better overall footballer, it's benz all day long. In terms of who's the better poacher, of course it's Higuain since that's his specialty.

In a 4-2-3-1 against weaker teams, where you can afford to play 2 AMs with Kaka and Ozil, Higuain is played to his strength as the CF is boxed in. But against Barca and other better teams that pretty much destroy us in the midfield, we need to play a 4-3-3 so that our team isn't cut in half. Because you have more players low to help get the ball forward and play defense, you can't have a poacher in there. You need a CF that can change positions... both creating goals and scoring them. Alonso and Khedira are not enough to handle the entire midfield duties... don't have the speed and creativity.

That's why Mou likes Benz more and why CR7 prefers to play with Benz... it allows for different tactics. With Higuain, we're stuck with one sort of attacking style.

Not highest class, but still great team player. Doesnt argue about sitting on the bench, give his best, and can score 15+ goals per sesaon.
