For a team we need to break down, I don't see whats wrong with playing Cesc alongside Mikel, allowing Cesc to do the passing, Just tell Mikel to get the ball to Cesc ASAP.

My biggest concern would be the hard games, Matic excels in those games, games where I'd rather have Mikel (the more defensively solid and more experienced of the two) over Romeu.

Because 2 players who can pass effectively is ALWAYS ALWAYS going to be better than 1 elite passer + 1 scrub passer.

Just tell Mikel to get the ball to anyone ASAP rofl

I think it would be best.
I'd rather see us develop Chalobah, RLC, Ake, Swifty and Baker over him. (not that they all play in the same position but they could all take that 4/5/6th midfield spot.

His contract was renewed this past summer. That makes me think he may well be in our plans for the future.

I don't know if he's better than Mikel in the role Mikel plays now, i.e as that defensive sub. However when Matic is injured (god forbid) or needs a rest then he will fit in nicely.

I honestly think Romeu should be sold.

I'd rather see us give that spot to someone who is more promising and younger.

Oriol was quality under AVB though admittedly failed to replicate such form under subsequent regimes.

Think he could still have a role to play at some point in the future.

He was, but he has struggled since, I don't understand why we should keep him if he hasn't replicated that form at all.

The club wouldn't have signed him to a new 3-year contract a few months ago if they were just going to get shot of him in 12 months. They clearly have some kind of plan for him, or at the very least, a hint of expectation or hope he may one day have a role to play.
