Good signing ?
Re: Gervinho
srigooner wrote:Then again, there were also those reports which had his agent claiming that Arsenal would be a "dream move" for him. Agents, what a pity!
Yh we would better off without them tbh. And he did say that about Arsenal in 2009 tbh iam getting tired of this its turning into a saga i just want him to come out and say where he's going be it Newcastle, Arsenal , Manc City etc etc.

Damn, those days are far off.
All the drama would wear off and it wouldn't be as exciting
But yeah, it can get annoying. It's all down to greed though, whoever pays more, wins...

Money. I hate that it comes before loyalty and honor today. Just causes a lack of respect if you ask me.

Re: Gervinho
If Gervinho does arrive as expected then it depends on who he is replacing in the squad.
As a replacement for Bendtner or Rosicky, he is a good signing. As a replacement for Nasri or Arshavin its not

Re: Gervinho
We have Denilson, Bendtner and most likely Rosicky leaving. So he could be a replacement for any one of them.
He doesn't have to be a replacement, we need the fresh blood anyways.

Rosicky leaving?!?! Where did that come from?!? Did I miss a rumour?
And Gervinho can't possibly replace Denilson man.. Maybe in terms of squad depth, but definitely not in terms of position.. I'd still say he adds something more to our attack, but this is going to depend on how AW uses him..

Those guys can be replaced by Frimpong, Lansbury and etc.
No, you didn't miss any rumor. That's only a personal wish He's past it now although he could help out the younger guys.

Lol.. Yeah he is a good squad player man.. Like Eboue and Chamakh.. Dont see these guys shooting their mouths off in public and disrespecting the fans and asking for pay rises after a few good games and stuff.. Besides, he and Almunia are like the only players who do a job of making our team's average age look a little higher

Re: Gervinho
God dammit. I juz got back from my school's first league game this season.
I played left wing, the temperature was around 0-5 degrees celsius. I got lightheaded in the middle of the game and I juz couldn't perform like i usually do. It was fecking fecking cold i tell ya'll.
I juz wanna know how in the hell these professional players in England can play during winter when it's fecking snowing?
Goodness gracious, I'd die if I was one of them.

Re: Gervinho
Now that I think about it, Arsenal may sign too many attacking players.
You need a great striker (Benzema) , a very strong CM ( Essien) , a good CB (Lucio) a better GK (Ruffier).

I would love Benz and we need a DM. Essien won't come, though. A backup CB would also be appreciated.
Our GK is done for now, we have 2 great goalkeepers and the money could be used to fill other gaps.

Re: Gervinho
I think I saw a few interviews last summer where he claimed Arsenal were his boyhood club. That being said, most of the reports linking us with him insist that we are offering money in the region of 17mil, which clearly isn't going to happen, so I don't know how much we should trust these sources.

17,000,000 euros, which is about £15,000,000. That's a price Arsenal would pay.
I've seen reports quoting £12,000,000 and even £8,000,000. We can probably narrow down the price to something in the region of £12,000,000-£15,000,000.

Well, £12mil or £8mil I can see. But we haven't spend £15 on anybody since Arshavin, so I usually doubt any source I read that claims we've already bid money in that region
But I guess time will tell. Arsene did say he would spend...

Re: Gervinho
We spent that much, if not more, on Arshavin not long ago and lots of sources claim Nasri cost something in that region as well. Hleb cost a little less, as did Wiltord and Henry (granted they were made years ago).
It's not really a farfetched figure.
But yeah, everything is just speculation at the moment.

17m on him will be hard to swallow. If we do spend big then we should spend on players we really need.

17m hell no, he's in last year of his contract, nothing above 12m please. Although if the report is true, City can outbid us easily.

It is frustrating, we really will just get the second best player in every position in the end wont we? we can't go for players that the rich clubs are going for...

Re: Gervinho
We have a lot of potential for cash. Not the same as the spanish giants, but definitel in the top 5. Read that Swiss Ramble analysis of our transfer kitty. Once we get new deals for shirt sponsors, stadium, etc. after our current long term deals start expiring in a couple of seasons, we'll be a LOT richer.. But we still need to win trophies and get the cash that generates.. and popularity.. Its all economics

@sushi, those two, the milan clubs, chelsea, united and city.
@sri, we have the transfer kitty but in general can't afford the high wages other clubs can.
