Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I only hope those Cissokho rumors are true.
-
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has encouraged Valencia's Juan Mata to join the ranks, insisting that the Gunners' style of play would go well with his game.
The 23-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish side, with the Gunners being seen as a potential destination.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp had also expressed an interest in acquiring the services of the former Real Madrid youngster recently, but Goal.com exclusively revealed that the player is not in favour of a transfer to Spurs.
Recent reports have pointed towards Arsenal being poised to break their transfer record for Mata, and England international Wilshere believes that he would do well if he agrees to ply his trade under the guidance of manager Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.
"He is a top quality player, we’ve seen that in the Under-21’s and in the Spanish league last season. I think the way Arsenal play would suit his game," Wilshere told Goal.com after the Emirates Cup game against Boca Juniors.
Arsenal threw away a two-goal lead to end up with a 2-2 draw against Boca Juniors on Saturday.

Barcelona want Cesc Fabregas to help pay his transfer fee from Arsenal and waive around £4m to help get the deal done, according to the Daily Mirror.
-Sky transfer clock watch
If this is true, I just lost what little respect I had for Barca. 4million? Arguing over such peanuts? Disgusting. Sick. And despicable. Definitely not worthy of a top brand in world sport.

Well they think Cesc is thier own player and shouldnt waste that much cash on him. I remember Xavi saying that Cesc is at arsenal just on loan.

1. there have been no negotiations going on so disregard the "he's signing this week" bullshit
2. wenger would never make an offer irresistible to any club...

AS reporting that Mata played against Lisbon and was given the captaincy as a sort of goodbye. They say he was isolated during the day and constantly on his phone.

Sounds like crap, to me. I think a large majority of this whole saga has just been paper talk and unsubstansiated rumours, which is why I've not gotten my hopes up over this.
I'd rather believe the local press in Valencia.
In other news, we're apparently interested in Matt Jarvis.

Its all paper bullshit, and also I dont think Wenger has made any bids for the players that are in the paper everyday, who are linked to Arsenal.
All summer we have been linked to so many players, and their mangers came out and said Arsenal has not made any bid for their players.

Spurs tried to get him but he only wanted to go to Arsenal or Barcelona. Without Cesc money, Arsenal didnt want 2 pay.Now he costs 60m euros

What is going with Mata lol? I have a feeling like all other players Wenger has not even made a bid or is going to make one. I blame it all on Nasri and Cesc wanting to leave.

Nobody knows but the clubs and player invovled, really, so we shouldn't worry about it too much.
Mata shouldn't be our priority, anyway.

Looked to have missed out on mata. Though Balague is known for getting things wrong.
Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I got this from guardian.co.uk home
Unhappy Arsenal supporters will at least be able to take some solace from the fact that Valencia winger Juan Mata has decided to eschew a move to their bitter rivals Tottenham in favour of inking a deal with Arsenal instead. A fee of £17m is believed to have been agreed between the clubs, with the Mirror reporting that the Spanish club's president, Manuel Llorente, may give his ultimate blessing to the move as early as tomorrow. Quite what such a move would mean for Samir Nasri remains to be seen, while in other Arsenal news the club are also reported to be sniffing around Wolves winger Matt Jarvis while simultaneously making plans to offload consistently inconsistent Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh to Serie A side Roma

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
There's one important fact that hasn't been taken into account for the Mata saga:
The fee is never paid when two clubs agree on a price. The fee is paid when the player agrees personal terms and passes his medial.
Which, you know, makes a hell of a lot of sense. Why would a club pay the fee when the player hasn't agreed to move?
Conclusion: Balague is full of crap.
This is not the say we will sign him, but I'm not so sure this whole thing is over just yet.

Btw, is he from Barcelona? Would explain the big mouth and crap talk. Or he is related to Patrice Evra.
Anyway, as we have been saying all this while, it was a media circus. Pity we are such an easy target for such hype. Fabregas, Nasri and now Mata. There are too many reasons why it is highly unlikely that we'll go for Mata now; and I don't wish to go over them again and again..
