What hala said. I couldn't have said it better, he should work hard and be patient. It's not like kroos and modric are in their mid 20s. He should learn the game and bide his time.

Re: The Official Real Madrid 21-22 Match Day Thread
Sports has pushed these players’ demands before. I’ve yet to see any of these predictions from the players.
Several of you have complained in the past about the quality of the bench, that it should be more competitive. Well that’s exactly what seems to be the plan with;
Rudgier, Alaba, Militao at CB
Alaba, Mendy at LB
Bellingham, Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga at CM
Rodrigo, Valverde at RW
and possibly in future
Carvajal, V. Tobias at RB
Iker Bravo, Endick at CF
I am speculating, but if I’m right, I think it’s a solid plan to compete in all competitions esp with the compacted schedules.
Btw, I don’t hear of any unhappiness at City with the talent they have on bench!

Re: The Official Real Madrid 21-22 Match Day Thread
Well Pepe was sold to allow for Varane to start
Higuain was benched to allow for Benz to start
Those were the only two that I've stated wanted to become regulars or were likely to ask for a move.
Camavinga is the same... typically, a player gives himself (and the club) 2 years to compete for a spot. Maximum 3. If it doesn't happen, they'll look to move on. Only guys who don't care are players like Vasquez and Nacho whose ambition isn't higher than being a reserve.
We used to send guys on loan (like Casemiro to Porto for a year). But that doesn't seem like something clubs want to do anymore.

Re: The Official Real Madrid 21-22 Match Day Thread
Your comparisons are really from a different era. The marketplace is completely different now with less than 10 clubs competing for top players. Madrid has chosen a youth route for most of the squad and loans don't make sence given what was paid for the likes of Rodrygo, Vini, Camavinga etc.
But I also see the Rudiger purchase and how that is being handled. It may be only for this year, but from what I see, there are no objections and it is allowing for rotations (which are being accepted) and it is allowing club to compete in all competitions.
I see same thing happening with midfield this year. Although Modric and Kroos are still playing significant minutes as is Valverde and Camavinga. Hell even Ceballos wasn't complaining (before injury) about his role and minutes. Pretty sure one or both Modric and Kroos will depart next summer, for which we need one or two more midfielders, maybe even three if Ceballos does leave. The rotations are working and for a guy who it was said would never rotate, I believe Carlo is doing a great job with rotations. As I said earlier the rotations are allowing club to compete in all competitions.
Keep this in mind that all this is pure speculation, the Bellingham purchase may not happen, but to me it does sound like a definite plan. When I see clubs like City, Liverpool and Chelsea (all last year) with very good talent on the bench and with the extremely thin bench we had last year, I think it only makes sense that the top 10 clubs have more than 11 considered starters in order to compete in all competitions.

Also in both examples you gave, both Varane and Benz clearly beat out the incumbent.
Bellingham, if he does come will not be handed a starter role, he would need to earn it.
If I’m all wrong on this rotation strategy, then it would likely be a battle between Camavinga and Bellingham or perhaps between Valverde and Rodrygo!

Great game today. 2 of the var denied goals should have counted, as per replays. Score should have been 5-0.
Re Valverde, it looks like he can play great, no matter where he lines up. They gave Benz MVP today, but it could have just as easily been Valverde or Rodrygo.

Decent half. We should be putting 4/5 goals past this team but since our goal we are very comfortable letting Sevilla pass it about. Watch them grow in confidence next half

Re: The Official Real Madrid 21-22 Match Day Thread
I don't know why we don't just start Alaba at LB instead of wasting a sub on taking out Mendy
We really turned on the screws after their goal and the subs. We played far too slow in the first half. It doesn't suit our Brazilian attackers. Putting on Camavinga really helped.
Really wasteful before their goal. As if we wanted them to score to see if we could overcome them. It was awful

I've grown to prefer alaba at center back. A more defensive wing back keeps me at ease tbh. I prefer him staying put where he is. We should be bashing Sevilla left and right, but we've become a less risky side over the years. I'm all for that to be honest. What makes us hard to beat has been our defensive strength in my honest opinion. 25 plus years and I never thought defensive strength would be something to associate with madrid

Also, something tells me Alaba does not have the legs to play FB in these high intensity matches for a full 90.
I think he also prefers CB.

I know asensio has been crap on offense but must he be a defensive liability too? I'm not even mad about topping the group since we don't have the away goals rule. But the defense like goodness. And I was just championing them not long ago. This shook me up a bit

Re: The Official Real Madrid 21-22 Match Day Thread
I am more annoyed at Camavinga's lackadaisical demeanour in defence. I have always known Asensio to be a lazy idiot but Cama has really dissapointed me this season.
All 3 goals were avoidable. This is probably the first time Rudiger has got the full RM experience i.e. defending on his own together with his CB partner and he failed the test.
In fact the whole team did. Vini is very frustrating when he hangs on to the ball until someone snatches it off him. I was pissed when he didn't pass to Asensio who could've equalised before their 3-1 goals. Needs to cut that shit out.
I am glad we've got our loss out of the way. We need to start winning again now.
Who knows what will happen when we start playing the back ups after the WC. Everytime they've played this seaosn we've lost ponts......

Re: The Official Real Madrid 21-22 Match Day Thread
nah the remaining game of the group stage is against Celtic at the Bernabeu. We beat them 3-0 in Glasgow, so I think it's safe to say that the first spot is safe.
Also Hala, since they are the reigning champion, Madrid has absolutely zero pressure this season to win the CL. The only times I felt Madrid needed to win the CL again was when we had no team winning it back to back and wanted us to be the first team to do it.
So yeah, they should have a free pass this season. I wouldn't care even if they get knocked out in the last 16.
The only trophy I want them to win this season (and they absolutely have no excuse not to win it) is the league. They win the league and I'm a happy man.

I have never seen the CL this weak before. I'd like to see us try to defend our title. This is the best season to do it imo.The Demon of Carthage wrote:nah the remaining game of the group stage is against Celtic at the Bernabeu. It annoys me to lose especially when we haven't tried but we'll have to lose sometime, right and I'd rather it is now than later in the season. I just hope we take lessons away from this game.

I don’t think anyone stops City this season, maybe Pep himself!
You guys make a lot out of a loss or a tie. Carlo is simply playing the long game. 1st place is and was a given! I don’t think we should fear anyone is CL bar City.
Actually I hope we meet up with PSG!

I don't think City are better this season than they were last season whereas we are much better than we were last season. Where they beat us is their bench. They have 2 XIs whereas we have 13/14 players we van count onfutbol_bill wrote:I don’t think anyone stops City this season, maybe Pep himself!

True, it's quite weak. Almost all teams are struggling for form, and those who used to be clear favorites in the last three years have regressed quite considerably, like Liverpool for instance. All except for City who now looks to be the clear favorite.
Seriously, if the Bald Fraud doesn't win it this year with Haaland, he should step down from the City job and let someone else take a crack at it.

Players are looking to stay healthy for the world cup... so defense will suffer. That's the issue with this nonsense mid-season WC.

I would like us to win by beating out the perceived best like we did last year. I favor to be best you have to beat the best (that by the way is why I like the idea of super league and why I’m in support of Barca rebuilding).
I also believe we are a much stronger team than last year particularly in depth and it’s only City with the Haaland addition that may be stronger. Plus I never have bought into the hype of PSG and feel Messi & co are overrated.

Re: The Official Real Madrid 21-22 Match Day Thread
Well Neymar was injured last year for Real Madrid and Messi was a shell of himself.
Also, PSG only had Verratti as a proper midfielder for several years now (a bunch of DMs otherwise). Now you have Vitinha, Renato Sanches, Fabian Ruiz and Carlos Soler to help him. Proper midfielders that can handle the ball at their feet.
And let's not downplay at all the fact that Ramos is also healthy after being perma-injured last season... and he's been good.
This PSG team is miles better as well.
My worry for everyone... I bet you all the players on teams that go far in world cup will be complete shit for their clubs when they come back. Mark my words.
