Ok, i agree with the use of the word ‘tough’ rather than ‘big’.

I’m a bit hung up on it, but lately I’m obsessed with futbol finances. As I have posted before, there are only 10 teams that can afford big name players and thus the word ‘big’ in terms of those teams. And if look into la liga teams, there are only 2 teams at that level (and I suspect with so much of their future income mortgaged, Barcelona likely won’t remain there.)

Atleti is at another level far below the top two, but well ahead of everyone else.

Now money itself doesn’t win you trophies e.g Man U, but it is amongst these 10 teams that trophies (the important ones) will be won.

So in my view of the world, the ‘tough’ opponents are only important in how we do against them vs Barca against them!

Leipzig have just changed their coach and won convincingly against Dortmund. This is a potential banana peel before the derby. Last season they did really well against QSG and beat City so we shouldn't take them lightly. Hoping Vini continues his goal scoring form and that Rodrygo carries on from where he left off at the weekend.

@Bill, I'd be surprised if Kroos doesn't start. Will be pleasantly surprised for sure.

Decent half. Modric is sort of useless in defensive transitions. We need to do better offensively. Some really poor plays and shots. Rodrygo should stop getting in Vini's way and improve his movement. We need tp utilise Valverde better. He's had alot of joy down his side

Tough game. Alot of unforced errors. Leipzig competed well in the first half but played for the draw in the second

Valverde is in great form. Vini was very good. Alaba is really underrated defensively

Thought Rodrygo was fairly average today. His job isn't to to try to get past players but to be an outlet to our wingers and be failed to do that. Will come with time I suppose

Madrid PSG and City are top 3 for this year's CL. Other teams are either horrible or just very unconvincing

Asensio just bought himself some sub appearances with this performance. Shame it had to take him only playing 12 minutes and getting booed for him to work hard. It's happened before so I know it won't last

I don't think I have ever hated a team as much as Atlético. To me they are just like 1988-89 Detroit Pistons where you can't help but hate everything they stand for.

Hope they get decimated tomorrow.

Lol I loved the brand of basketball the bad boy pistons played growing up as a kid.....absolutely loved it, cos I hated and still hate the Celtics and lakers. Now against Mike was a different story. Could not take their side when Jordan arrived on the scene

I've come to despise Atletico more than Barca in recent times. In fact I've never hated Barca it was just part of the rivalry but their fans can be very stubborn when it comes to "philosophy vs results"

On the other hand there is not one good thing I can say comes from Atletico

Who says we are heavily dependent on Benz. Maybe his injury, this early in season is a good thing. Rodrygo, Vini, Valverde and Tchouameni really stepping up.

In Vini’s defense, (somewhat), the Atleti fans, a large group of ultras, were chanting calling him a mono (monkey) before the game. No words from club nor Tebas so far, Disgusting!

Was it really a full Tibu mistake though? His punch was on course to clear if not for a certain calamity-prone defender in Militao deciding to do his natural job of heading the ball (badly). Mind you, Militao had a fine game today.

I'm all for making fun of Tibu but I don't wanna be all it's his full fault.

All in all, even when it became 2-1, I had not a single doubt in my heart and the only nerves happening is from the Atleti fans and players. The lads in white looked calm as hell...

As for Vini, he's young so the theatrics is part and parcel but as he gets older, he'll need to cut it out as you just look stupid.

However, he kept their left side very honest for a while until he no longer had any meaningful impact on the game. Happens to the best of them though.
