That being said, new season, somewhat same squad. Today we begin against Alaves.

Marcelo is out, which means Miguel will start and thats great news.

My predicted lineup:

GOATquez - Militao - Alaba - Miguel
Valverde - Casemiro - Modric
Rodrygo - Benzema - Hazard

One noticeable difference is that we are playing with the same intensity in the 2nd half as we did in the first. Too many instances with Zizou where we lost games in the 2nd half when we decided to relax

Great start to the season

Magnificent game by the team. Wonderful debut by Alaba. Feels great to have a LB who can attack with purpose. Mendy would be a nice expensive back up

The subs did well too.

good game, especially the second half. if we play with that same intensity and creativity we can win the league no problem. especially now when barca dont have that one guy who used to save their butt week in week out

So Carlo is trying to turn Asensio into a midfielder he is limited on the wings maybe midfield 3 will be his thing. But he is too afraid to get stuck in, i just don't know man

Something has to give Hala. They have Bale, Rodrygo and even Lucas available for RW. And if they get Mbappe, it will further complicate things for backup roles. Meanwhile they are relying on inconsistent Isco to backup to Modric. It's a risk but overall trying to utilize what we have. Asensio has played that role before most notably with youth NT.

Carlo was the one who turned ADM into a CM. With Asensios ability to circulate possession, it could probably work but defensive we'll be very weak if he's paired with Kroos, Modric or Casemiro as they won't be able to cover for him

I think the bigger issue is no backup for Casemiro other than Blanco who might end up on Castilla roster. I’m worried they try Kroos or Valverde in that spot. Rotating Asensio and Isco for Modric is ok as is Valverde for Kroos, but they need someone like Blanco on the squad to relieve Casemiro.

We don't know how well Blanco backs up Casemiro until he's truly tested. And for him to be truly tested he needs to havr thr confidence of the coach to be tried in that position. So far Carlo has refused to use Miguel in Marcelo's and Mendy's abscences. Not that it was a bad choice but without being tested we'll never know if Blanco has what it takes to join the first team as Casemiro's primary back up
