1st and 5th are normally the highest pressure penalties for the two best takers. It made sense that it was Pogba and Mbappe.

Awful by France attitude wise.
Started the game almost arrogantly, lacking in any urgency. Look at Spain, even though they threw away a lead and cant deal with any direct balls, they at least had a great team spirit the entire time. Encouraging each other all the time, seemed to be very positive from everyone and they fought for each other. But France started the game in a very arrogant way. They finally started playing and showed their quality, from half time until 3-1, they were on a different level than perhaps anyone in the tournament so far. Then Pogba scores a wonder goal and they get arrogant again, casual play and as if the Swiss were beneath them.
I am not at all surprised DD picked the players he picked, but maybes its time to admit this shit concrete football isnt the best way to go and therefore some of these selections dont make any sense.
How Lenglet and Zouma get picked is beyond me. Imagine being in the position to need to start someone as horrifically poor as Lenglet when you can choose from the likes of Laporte (mot any more), Upamencano, Fofana, Kounde and so on.
Also where was Ferland Mendy?
I wanted France to progress, just because I think the Spain game would have been chaotic and fun but by the end of it, they got what they deserve.

Definitely France failed big time. Their defense was never good, I mean Lenglet has gone from WC winner to consistently poor for Barca and now gets subbed in the Euros with make shift LB Rabiot still in, and then Kimbempe was is average, Varane is ok I guess. I also think the first half or so showed just why the back 3 trends is just weird, so often teams get exposed simply when u just attack behind the FBs, and France never justified this since their FBs dont offer much in attack anyway. Deschamps changed it at HT, but as Dani said, their attitude and highlighted by Mbappe who massively underperformed, is quite strange. What a huge upset, I think its gotta be one of the biggest ever in teams of team levels, Swiss Im sure nobody thought had a chance vs a basically group of French players in their prime.

What a great day of football! Watching Spain-Croatia, I thought yeah we have used the "great game quota", but no, France-Switzerland was even better. Croatia defended mostly at the start and then got a major fluke goal. Then they did an epic comeback, well almost, because then they were beaten again.
But Swiss actually defended and attacked well. They even missed penalty and Gavranovic's goal was disallowed. What a mettle shown by Gavranovic to later score the equaliser. Apart from the 20 minute spell after the penalty save in which France shown that they are the best team in the world, up above any other, Swiss actually fought evenly with them. But yeah, it was highly supported by France's arrogance and carelessness as Dani said.
Huge credit to Swiss for not parking the bus and driving the bus to the heart of Paris. Also for Croatia to go toe to toe with Spain. I thought Belgium-Portugal will be the highscoring game and these two will be the fairly simple wins for the big teams, but how wrong I was. It was a pleasant surprise

France are easily the most dislikeable of all top teams. Absolutely zero team spirit, just feels like bunch of celebrities playing with each other.
The footballing equivalent of the Kardashians.
So glad that boring soulless team is out....now off to find ticket for Swiss vs. Spain on Friday!

Re: EURO 2020 - R16 : France vs Switzerland
RMC Sport have provided new details around the clashes between player families last night following France’s surprise exit at the hands of Switzerland in EURO 2020.
The verbal battle appeared to occur principally between Veronique Rabiot, the player’s mother and certain individuals close to him, and the Pogba family. The two families exchanged words after the third goal for Switzerland in the stands – Veronique asked how Pogba could lose the ball like that in the lead up to the Swiss equaliser.
At the full-time whistle, Veronique Rabiot asked Kylian Mbappé’s father to tell his son off so that he would be less arrogant. She also took aim at certain journalists for the way they were sucking up to Mbappé.
An aggressive exchange of words then occurred between Veronique and Mbappé’s mother, as well as the PSG attacker’s father.
For about 20 minutes, Adrien Rabiot’s mother clashed with several families of players present in Bucharest on Monday evening. Other families witnessed the scene. They were shocked by Véronique Rabiot’s attitude and the timing of her outburst, right after the match. The situation appears to have originated from earlier in the match when security officers had to ask those close to Paul Pogba to calm down, after they reacted aggressively and negatively to Adrien Rabiot’s mistakes, in particular, during the match.
