France are easily the most dislikeable of all top teams. Absolutely zero team spirit, just feels like bunch of celebrities playing with each other.
The footballing equivalent of the Kardashians.
So glad that boring soulless team is out....now off to find ticket for Swiss vs. Spain on Friday!
shame Xhakvi will be suspended (((

French Agbonlahor actually. Walcott was a big game player in his prime.

Wonder if the Giroud drama played a part in that.

Gavranovic took his goal like an absolute top player, his run, turn, and shot across the goal reminded me of a typical Lukaku goal

Everyone says he is a brat in the dressing room and wants to be 'the man' So probably more of that.

From what I have heard his ego has gone beyond even Deschamp's control so if this is correct he wont make himself out to be the most beloved player in the locker-room that is for certain.

Him taking over direct free kick duties while scoring 0 FKs in his career gives credence to this rumor.

The fact he went 5th tells you what you need to know. If you're your teams star player and you aren't in the first three spots, that means you either want the glory of the 5th pen or you don't have the cajones to take it earlier.

Re: EURO 2020 - R16 : France vs Switzerland
the only thing i heard at the end of the season was how france would beat everybody and nobody can stop their attacking trident....@casciavit i partially disagree, most times the best player takes the latter PKs. you want your most confident taker to close it out; u also dont want ure best player missing early and killing the whole team's confidence, ala cristiano and kaka missing the first 2 against bayern....has nothing to do with cajones. stepping up to take one is cojones in itself.....there are players who turn those down

Shit, France could bring the u21 side and this would still be ez pz. Switzerland is pants.
Also, DD really should have brought Theo but hindsight and all that.
Well, this turned out to be an absolute shit post.

Lord Vasquez spinning the ball on his finger before dispatching it vs Atleti still remains one of those awesome moments of pure confidence/cajones.titosantill wrote:the only thing i heard at the end of the season was how france would beat everybody and nobody can stop their attacking trident....@casciavit i partially disagree, most times the best player takes the latter PKs. you want your most confident taker to close it out; u also dont want ure best player missing early and killing the whole team's confidence, ala cristiano and kaka missing the first 2 against bayern....has nothing to do with cajones. stepping up to take one is cojones in itself.....there are players who turn those down

Hard to put into perspective just how much of a disaster this is for France.
Their B team should beat Switzerland. Hell, their C team should probably beat Switzerland. What a choke. Absolutely embarrassing

Re: EURO 2020 - R16 : France vs Switzerland
@doc, i gave everybody props in that shootout, cos i wasnt confident in any of them bar cristiano....nasa still looking for ramos' against bayern, had never seen marcelo nor lord vasquez take a pk, whilst bale is reliable from the spot, dude who barely plays all season cos of injury played into extra time and pk, and rightfully even got hurt or pulled a muscle after his kick.
crazy thing is, this was the only game france played this tournament that impressed me, and even so, i thought swiss was still the better side.....yeah france and mbappe had some misses, but swiss looked hungrier. they looked like france in the last world cup minus the technical ability, but pure hustle. france had the pretty girl syndrome throughout this tournament....u can have that in a league race or even ucl with two legs, but not a one game knockout competition

Re: EURO 2020 - R16 : France vs Switzerland
It's not even that France can say that they were beaten by a good team, to spare their blushes.
Fact is Switzerland is a terrible team with basically two players at best of note worthy skill and that with careers who didn't live up to expectations (Xhaka and Shaquiri).
So no it's just an astounding flop.

Re: EURO 2020 - R16 : France vs Switzerland
So all that talk about 100 awesome French CBs and they defended this poorly in the Euros. They played defensively, have Kante playing at the top of his game, yet conceded 6 goals and 3 penalties not by accident.
Pogba, Kante, Benzema, and Coman (as an impact sub) were the only impressive players. The rest were ok (like Lloris or Rabiot) or bad (like Mbappe or Lenglet).
Too much hype.

Really? 5th is just simply more often than not a high pressure pen

Re: EURO 2020 - R16 : France vs Switzerland
1st and 5th are normally the highest pressure penalties for the two best takers. It made sense that it was Pogba and Mbappe.
