Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Man I love BSG.
I'm up towards the end of season 3, when Starbuck seems to die. I actually can't remember how it ended for Starbuck, but I feel she'll be back.
Very sad death, show is so well written.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
That feeling of emptyness when you finish an amazing TV show.
BSG I remember when I first watched it years go how impressed with Adama I was and Edward James Olmos for portraying him so well, but this time round Doctor Cottle is easily my favorite character despite a minor role, every minute of him is gold. I also hated Baltar, but now I was more appreciative of how well played the character was, most impressive performance of all actors probably.
If I remember well there are a couple of movies as well, so I'll dive into that.
So Say We All
I actually remembered how I first got into it. Barilette Cosmico told me it was like watching Star Wars every week. Even though you couldn't be farther away from the truth, thanks BC

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
It's THE definitive space opera TV series so I agree with that assessment.
I just finished Star Trek Voyager and have moved onto Star Trek Enterprise. I can tell this show won't quite reach the heights that Voyager and Deep Space Nine did for me in resonance, but it's at least going to be solid. The intro song sucks hard though. Such a departure from the orchestral intro I'm used to.

Lost was amazing before it went to shit. I think no TV show should be longer than 3, 4 seasons. Very hard to maintain quality and keep interest in these times.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
LOST was the first phenomenon TV Show I watched as a kid, kinda got me into Murikan TV hardcore
first couple seasons everyone was talking about it, teachers, kids, parents
speaking of
I watched the first season of a show called FROM that channels its inner LOST
Second season is starting this month or next, its by some LOST producers and has some of the same cast, about a group of people who get stuck in a town they cant escape and at night monsters come to attack them, got a lot of the same story beats and mystery

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Of course TV shows have surpassed Lost by now also given the money into them now but Lost for me is the tv series I am the most emotionally attached to. Every single character and I mean all of them.
Anyone I meet who loves Lost I consider a literal sibling, I connect with them that much.

Well such a major event just happened in the show and I barely kept watching, substantial drop in quality.

Also it seems that is just my opinion cause after 12k voted the episode is 10/10 on IMDB Felt like garbage to me tbh.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
For people that liked Lost, Yellowjackets hits a lot of the same points. Plane crash, mysterious setting, flashbacks and flashforwards. Lost was more ambitious and creative, but Yellowjackets has better acting and music, and since it's ongoing the ending might be less controversial.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
3 of the 4 lead adult actresses in yellowjacket do a great job imo. And the acting in Lost wasn't all that. The only actor that went on to do bigger things is Evangeline Lilly who always played kind of wooden.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Lost didn't need to be carried by good acting, it was the plot and mystery that carried.
Although, i disagree with you, i think there were a bunch of solid performances in Lost.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
currently going thru a Sopranos rewatching and thoroughly enjoying it... just can't get into new stuff these days
My Top 5 Shows All-Time
1. Mad Men - the perfect TV drama if ever there was one. Top notch writing, lots of colourful characters. Dom Draper is the ultimate Sigma king. Stakes are high every season, and what it has over the other top TV dramas is that every episode feels progressive. I can hardly remember any filler episodes. For a show that went 7 seasons, it did very well to keep things fresh and interesting as well.
2. The Sopranos - gangster TV at its best, but what sets Sopranos apart from other TV shows is how good of a family drama it is as well. The family dynamics feel so honest and real, and so many colourful characters throughout. Has a few filler episodes here and there though.
3. Better Call Saul - comes closest to competing with Mad Men in terms of consistent quality episodes pound for pound. Writing is insanely good and detailed. Saul Goodman is perhaps the most humanely raw and complex TV character of all-time.
4. The Wire - amazing detail and writing as well. Such a deep and honest societal reflection of day to day street life, The Projects and The Police of its milieu, plus all the hardhitting politics around it as well. S2 is the unfortunate drawback.
5. Mr. Robot - the perfect modern day TV series in terms of taking chances and not revolving things around the typical family drama angle. Good representation of modern day loneliness, corporate fatigue/exploitation vs mental health issues. For a show that was so ambitious and experimental, it did well to keep its core fanbase invested and satisfied from beginning to end.
- a close honourable mention is Justified. I remember loving it so much, but i forgot some of it, and a rewatch is definitely in store.
- other honourable mentions The Walking Dead (S1 to S4), Game of Thrones (S1 to S5), Lost (S1 - S3)

I dropped it for no good reason halfway through season 1 but it did seem pretty good, may try to get back into it

Beef was a very good miniseries, if you guys are looking for something recent to watch. Steven Yeun doesn't miss.
Re-watching Barry as the final season is coming out soon and I don't remember anything from S1-3 lol.

Lost is definitely one of the best series I've ever seen. I didn't even mind the drop in quality in latter seasons.
Thought the acting was elite in it considering how unknown most of the actors were and they all gave great performances. Best part was how unique they all were. However, funnily enough jack was perhaps the weakest actor which was strange since he is the main protagonist. Unless he was written poorly.

I am overdue a Lost rewatch. I just am not ready for that finale though. One of the most infuriating twists I've ever seen in a TV show.
