Also weird circumstances aside AJ Styles main eventing WM against the Undertaker is wild.

That was incredible. I can't wait for Wyatt vs Cena tomorrow. Thank Matt Hardy for innovating this.
I thought the show was good considering the circumstances. Zayn vs Bryan sucked, I think Zayn is semi-retired due to injuries? All he does is his finisher and a few punches. It was just Bryan beating him up and interferences. Goldberg vs Braun...well its your fault if you expected more.
Other than that it was great. The roster is so talented. Kevin Owens's elbow drop was insane.
A lot of people are saying a Boneyard type of match should be done with Undertaker and Sting. I'm all for it.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 34
I only saw 4 matches.
The Ladder match, Rollins vs Owens, Boneyard Match and Goldberg vs Braun.
3 of them were great one was trash and i think everyone can figure out what one.
As for tomorrow i think we can expect good things from Edge vs Orton and Cena vs Wyatt based on tonight.
There's emotion behind Edge vs Orton (similarly to Rollins and Owens)and Cena vs Wyatt will be heavily edited like the Boneyard Match.

Side note on the Boneyard Match: it was nice Taker having a good match again.
I was a massive fan as a kid but i haven't really enjoyed his matches since the streak ended. Him going out with losing to Reigns and having a squash with Cena as a lasting memory wouldn't have felt right.

I enjoyed his Summerslam match against Lesnar, which was their first confrontation after Lesnar broke the streak. That match had something which few matches these days have and that's HEAT.
You don't get the feeling the guys want to kill each other anymore. Hell, In the last 6 years since I restarted watching I've only got that from three feuds in WWE.
Ambrose-Rollins 2014, post-Shield break-up
Lesnar-Taker 2015, post-streak
Ronda-Becky 2019...and that never even materialized but I'll never forget the heat of their confrontation

Agreed on this. Gargano-Ciampa on NXT currently has it.

If you go by the traditional meaning of the word heat then there's many feuds which have had heat.

Agreed, it was like the Deconstruction of John Cena lol.
I liked how they weren't afraid to tell a story without shitting on the fans intelligence or over explaining everything.
In recent years we've had Manias where you could easily say I'm never watching anything from that show ever again.
You can't really say that this year, both Cena vs Wyatt and Taker vs Styles will be "matches" i watch again.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 34
Wyatt-Cena was amazing
Well, it's subjective. I feel like there are some matches that have a big fight feel, like Roman-Brock, but you don't get the feeling they hate each other. The crowd also plays its part too. Reigns-Cena had the heat but the crowd hated both so that ruins the spectacle.
I've always been a fan of wrestling where you get the feeling that both guys hate each other. Ambrose wanting to kill Rollins after he sold out? Believable. The crowd bought in. Taker wanting to kill Lesnar after he broke the streak? Believable. The crowd bought in.
Then again, both of those feuds had years of build-up, so when the inevitable feuds happened, you were hooked in. Both wrestlers have to be over too. I truly believe there's a lack of electricity in feuds these days. Even if there aren't years of build-up you can still build up that emotional interest. Look at Ronda-Becky:

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 34
Heat means crowd reaction, there's not much subjective about it tbh.
It's just the meaning has been distorted over the years.
Also It didn't end the way we wanted because of circumstances out of everyone's control but Edge vs Orton had more heat in the initial few weeks than pretty much every match you just named.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 34
Edge-Orton peaked on the first night for me. The second Orton started using Beth as a reason for him attacking Edge, that's when the feud took a turn, and then the meh match (Orton not surprised) solidified that even more.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 34
Lot of names on that list aren't surprising in the least, but Rusev? Wow, that one hit me in the gut.
That's a awful decision though they have horribly misused him for at least a couple of years now. Rusev Day was one of the coolest movements around at its peak and of course, WWE fucked it up.
A few weeks ago, Rusev apparently offered to give 20K of his own money to help struggling WWE employees and now they release him? Oof. Rather glad I haven't been watching any of the shows since the pandemic hit. None of these wrestlers should be competing. They should all be at home, like the rest of us. Vince is the embodiment of American graft and greed though so not surprised sadly.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 34
Mike Chioda is the most shocking for me. He is the longest tenured employee, been in the company for more than 30 years, since the Hulkamania era.

Anderson and Gallows is surprising too considering they were part of the WM main event only two weeks ago...but I heard they are paid in the millions and they are really not worth that. They solely just wanted to keep them out of AEW/NJPW.

Probably a bit of both, there's been rumours of a contract dispute between him and WWE for a while.
