The Outer Worlds

Most of the negative Outer Worlds reviews seem to boil down to "it's not Skyrim enough," in some. Trade off of using Unreal rather than Bethesda's engine.

Don't expect the same open world scope as a Creation Engine RPG, it's a more focused experience more like Mass Effect 2/3.

Tbh once you go massive, it's hard to return to small. Baldur's Gate, Morrowind, Elex. Outer Worlds? If it's 20-25 hours, going to probably skip it until it's sale on Steam. It has too much negativity on it, looks arcade, developer not trusting in its own product and small scope. The Epic fiasco truly is a deal braker.

So it's getting negative reviews? Not that I care about them one bit, but it's interesting to see.

No not really, it's an 86. But the ones that aren't positive are because they want an RPG with loads of filler.

Also not sure where you get the idea it's arcadey or the developer doesn't trust in its product.

Developer doesn't trust it = getting money advance on exclusivity deal. Looking arcade mostly based on the old game play footage with highlighted enemies etc. Might check the end product though.

Or because they needed funding lol, pretty obvious considering they haven't made their own game in many years.

Not everything has to be some wild conspiracy theory.

Getting money on exclusivity deal is not trusting their own product, period, non negotiable, non debatable. Not letting half of the player base to play it, instead take money on it? It's not Einstein level logic.

Definitely a negative for me. But not a dealbreaker. There's room for both Bethesda and Bioware type RPGs, though I prefer the former.

Getting largely mediocre reviews from trusted sources. Looks like another one that might only pick up from a bargain bin.

Yeah, like they know it beforehand. It's a negative sign every time.

Somebody call Origin, they could sell me ME3 and even Andromeda, if they offered them in Steam. At least Rockstar offers GTA and RDR2, even if they forward to their own launcher.

I'm sure plenty of people would even pay extra to have a game on Steam.

Who are those trusted sources? Reviews seem to be largely positive, from what I can tell. And that’s despite a lot of people being disappointed that it didn’t feel more like game x or game y, for whatever reason. A local game reviever gave it an 8/10 with the main point of criticism being that they didn’t do anything revolutionary or particularly forward-thinking. I can live with that.

Averaging 86 over 75 reviews is not " mediocre " and as already stated the only reason it's not higher is because a lot of the reviews wanted something different "aka Skyrim, Fallout clones ". No idea why anyone would enforce personal wants and feelings on a game instead of reviewing what it is but here we are.

But almost none of the reviews are mediocre or bad.

And on the subject of reviews, the most reliable sources Eurogamer already gave it a 'meh', PC Gamer gave it a 79. By all means I hope you both enjoy playing it.

Claiming that I’m defending it because I pre-ordered it is wishful thinking on your part If it stinks, it stinks. That’s fair. Your criticism just doesn’t add up with what I’ve heard and read about the game. Most of the hate in internet comment sections seem to be directly related to it being an Epic exclusive, and as a console peasant or whatever people may want to call it, I couldn’t give a flying fuck about PC issues. The actual game-related criticism doesn’t describe an awful game, so the notion that it’s receiving largely negative reviews doesn’t make much sense. I will check out Eurogamer, though.

I couldn't care less about these comments, the game isn't even out yet so why bother reading people's comments who haven't even played the game; it's about the reviews and the reliable ones. Kotaku, Eurogamer, PC Gamer. These are the ones whose views usually align with me.

The whole attitude around pre orders are hilarious to me.

Want to know why i pre order? it's because i have my own brain and it's obvious to me months before a game comes out that i'll like said game and i don't see the point in waiting for someone elses opinion to tell me what to think.

So no me pre ordering the game has no impact on my attitude towards reviews, it's really not that deep. (hell i've enjoyed games with genuinely shit reviews) I honestly couldn't care less.

The whole sheep mentality around pre orders where people are strangely very angry and follow what other people say as a rule are absolutely hilarious.

The statements above are contradicting. How can you defend (or attack) a game that's not even out yet.

And even if you like a game after playing it, it doesn't necessarily make it a good game in other people's eyes. Enjoy it for what it is worth instead of coming with your guns blazing at others. You have this vindicating attitude as soon as you like a game, where anyone criticising it makes you defend it like it is your mom's private parts.

Oh, and there's nothing wrong with enjoying what other people think are mediocre games.

Played it for a few hours, already love the writing, characters and RPG systems.

People who want that RPG that Bethesda and Bioware have failed to deliver recently should definitely play this game.

How are you able to play it this early? I have to wait until midnight.

These negative reviews are honestly convincing me to buy this game. So you are telling me this game doesn't have 100+ hours of mindless quest choirs.

Give me a game that gives me the experience of always wanting more and hoping the game never ends. While playing Bathesda games, quarter way through the game I just want the game to end. I honestly never finished the main quests of Obvilion, Skyrim, and Fallout 4.

It says here that you’re playing Destiny 2. Was The Outer Worlds that bad?

Hey now, defending Destiny 2 is a hill I'm perfectly prepared to die on.

I have dumped an absurd amount of time in that game and Shadowkeep has been no different.

It’s not the quality of the game that I’m concerned with. I’m just surprised that he looks to be taking a break from playing a brand new game(hasn’t even been officially released yet), in favor of playing an older one. Unless, I misinterpreted him when he said he already spent a couple of hours playing The Outer Worlds

Not taking a break lol, i just tend to play with friends when they ask lol.
