Re: The Outer Worlds
First big story decision, big spoilers so don't read till you leave the first area.
- Spoiler:
- I wasn't a fan of the Deserters or Reed so i wanted to try and fuck them both over.
I first killed Reed ( now the entire Town hates me) but i then in turn put the power back in Edgewater so the Deserters have no power and forced to go back.
But i what i didn't expect is because i did all of it this way and with Reed out of the picture Adelaide agreed to go back and take control of Edgewater.
All part of the plan tbh

Re: The Outer Worlds
Watched couple hours of Twitch stream. Looks very linear, very cartoonish or arcade gameplay. Sky looks nice, and dialogue is its strong suit. But not really going to bother before it's in sale on Steam, maybe not even then. Feels criminal this kind of game to get 20 points more from critics than game like Elex, which game three years ago, offers pretty much everything, is open world and three times the size. But that's just another evidence how corporate reviewers and influencers are nowadays.

Or because size is irrelevant and doesn't correlate to quality.

Re: The Outer Worlds
That’s what he said.
I haven’t left the first area, yet. Friends and family keep requesting my time, so I haven’t had much time to sit down and play the game. It kind of reminds me more of Borderlands than Fallout so far, though. At least, in atmosphere. That said, I do like the game.

Re: The Outer Worlds
Enjoying this way more than any Fallout game tbh. Part of it is because to me the sci fi worlds you explore to me is way more interesting than post apocalyptic wastelands.
But it's not just that, New Vegas aside the writing, quests and party members are all way better imo. Even the combat is more enjoyable now I've actually got some weapons which are not total garbage.
So yeah I'm enjoying it.
Oh and i enjoy the hub like design way more than the massive worlds with nothing of substance to justify them.

Re: The Outer Worlds
So I picked this up on Xbox Game Pass and pumped about 12 hours into it this weekend.
I feel like this is almost a spiritual successor to Mass Effect in many ways, but the dark humor-laced dystopian tone is more akin to Borderlands and/or Bioshock. I have yet to meet any actually memorable characters yet though other than maybe ADA.
Overall, I'm enjoying it so far.

- Stuff like this is where I feel the game is really strong.
In the Empty Man quest, I didn't really understasnd how the dialog works when I'm cloaked so I ended up killing all the soldiers in the security office before getting the terminal, this of course, dropped my standing with the Groundbreakers, but I then completed every other available quest for them and now my official status with them is "Confused"....I love the ambiguity of that. It's something I rarely see in games like this.

Same
This is basically Fallout 3/NV in space right? watched the trailer on PSN just now and it had the exact feel of those.
Also a sale going on with Bioshock collection for 20, and Fallout 4 for 8. Damn. That Bioshock collection is so tempting

That's a fair comp tbh, i would add that the RPG systems, decisions etc are more in line with New Vegas ( natural considering who the devs are) But the tone of the world, design of them in general, writing, characters and companions more seem inspired by Mass Effect, Bioshock etc etc but with the depth of New Vegas.
It is it's own game but if i were to throw comps out there that's how i feel it compares to.

Yeah a buddy of mine also mentioned New Vegas as well. Didn't mention it myself as I've never played any of the Fallout games.

Re: The Outer Worlds
I think i made my character a bit too OP with high personality skills, i can simply charm/persuade /intimidate myself out of all problems.
- Spoiler:
- About that first decision, i sided with Reed first but then persuaded him to step down and Adelaide took control of the Edgewater, no blood spilled.

- Spoiler:
- Regarding the first decision, I diverted power away from the deserters, then convinced Adelaide's followers to return to Edgewater and abandon her. Reed remains in charge and I am revered by both sides.

I did the same thing. Pedram: Tell us what you found inside the locked room in Reed’s office and spoiler tag it

Did i miss something there? didn't bother to check his room, is it still accessible after he leaves?

Re: The Outer Worlds
I never found out what’s in there since Reed and his lackeys had the locked room in their line of sight. Might just be junk for all I know. I don’t know if you still have access after he leaves since I haven’t explored the option of making him leave.
