Re: Arsenal Lobby
He's 32 and doing prime Ronaldo9 weekly. We should also scout Kulusevski, he will be a star soon.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Bellerin-----Mertesacker------Koscielny-----Monreal
Coquelin----Cazorla
Fabregas
Sanchez----Van Persie----Arshavin
Assuming Bellerin was at his peak. Went for attack more than defense (Sagna) especially with Monreal on the other flank.
Koscielny has been a great servant but I don't rate him that highly. Unfortunately can't think of any other CBs. Him and Mertesacker had a great partnership.
Coquelin and Cazorla has been our beat CM pairing, balancing attack and defense.
Fabregas and Cazorla are no brainers which meant Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere misses out.
Went for some width with Sanchez and Arshavin. Wish we had some decent wingers in the recent years...

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Sorry my error earlier KSE are paying down the full £210m stadium debt.
— Darren (@DarrenArsenal1) July 9, 2020
This will mean, that there will now no longer be a requirement for the over £30m of cash to be held as a requirement of the old debt. This means the club now has this £30m to use for the running of the club.

Why is it easier to terminate contracts of long term employees than of players with comparatively shorter contracts? (Looking at deadwood & Özil)Jay29 wrote:Arsenal have announced 55 staff members will be made redundant due to the pandemic. Never a good look when you have players earning millions.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsenal players not happy with 55 staff being made redundant. They agreed 12.5% wage cut in April after receiving assurance nobody would lose jobs. Yesterday’s news left squad angry & they plan to raise it with #AFC bosses. With @gunnerblog @TheAthleticUK https://t.co/OWotcinKhh

Arsenal stand to lose at least £67m in revenue next season due to the lack of matchday revenue. Cost cutting is inevitable in this scenario for a club who operates self-sustainably and still depends a lot on match-day revenue.
I also understand this is a tricky situation that's changing all the time. The UK gov were going to allow 20% capacity in stadiums next season, but have since done a u-turn due to a recent increase in Covid cases. As it stands, all of next season will be played without fans. That's going to sting.
Still, this whole situation reeks of bullshit.
- The average salary of an employee at Arsenal is just a fraction of the weekly wage of a player. The club has a spare £150k p/w to pay for Willian or extend Aubameyang's contract, but no money to pay it's other employees?
- A successful football team unlocks more revenue, but a constantly inflating wage bill undermines the whole cost-cutting endeavour.
- The players are going to be blamed when it's not their fault. Yes, Ozil does little to justify his salary, but he's not intentionally depriving other employees their salary.
- The owner is worth, what, 8.6 billion or something?
- The line in the article about continuing to toe the FFP line is pathetic. UEFA have already loosened the rules because of the pandemic. Moreover, City have since proven FFP is worthless.
- I'll reiterate; the chasm between the salary of an average employee and a player is so enormous, I fail to see how cutting the former benefits the latter. If the average salary at the club is £30k, the club saves £1.65m by cutting jobs. If the average salary was higher, say £50k, the clubs saves £2.75m. A tiny fraction of a transfer fee or a player's salary.
The club's strategy now seems to be going all-in on CL qualification; a risky venture given the level of competition and the possibility of it all blowing up if they fail.
Frankly, I can't be excited about any transfer business the club does now.

wow what next... I presume this is because of the investigation into the Pepe deal. So Raul was essentially shady with the money?

this was enjoyable, especially the bit at the end with Amy Lawrence reflecting on Highbury. Can't help but fantasise how beautiful it would have been if i was born in Islington.
How much do those flats at Highbury cost to live in, asking for a friend
