GL Pre-Season improvements/Suggestions/Innovation

Discord isn’t a social network platform, it isn’t Instagram or Facebook, its communities for everything niche to everything big, you won’t see anyone posting C’est La Vie in the club with 2 girls. I don’t know why there’s such a negative connotation here with Discord.

Ah , not sure if it is possible but it'd be nice   tags to work.
We usually tag other users even if we know it doesn't work. Is it possible to get a notification for a tag ? IMO it'd be useful.

No , I know it.
I have even an account on Discord , used often last year.
It was a general matter about the forum that is not good because it  is  old  internet ... as if the past is necessarily worse than present.... but the old internet, represented by forum, was the best era in internet.

Anyway , Discord is a programme where you can both talking and chatting, but personally I am not attracted from this.

Staying on the forum is fine. Whenever i've gone to the Real Madrid reddit section for example, and any other section on reddit tbh, to me at least, everything feels disposable and forgettable, not intimate, you don't really get to know people, everything moves quickly, not as easy to keep records, etc, nah, that sucks imo.

Multimedia section probably shouldn't exist, RB section can be satisfied in the clean debate section which can maybe be renamed into something more enticing, and maybe the other club sections aside from those that do get activity can be included inside an "other clubs" section or mini forum so that the main page can look less cluttered.

I quite like platforms like Discord and Slack. ES is right though, this is where most forums are moving towards.

I suppose the question at hand is: Do we want to be like "most" forums and keep up with trends or do we want to continue to do what makes the most sense to us as a community?

I hate the hivemind mentality here. It's like voicing another opinon other than the hivemind which consists of a few posters is like breaking the rules FFS.

My opinions are different but take for example Hazard - me danyjr and Valk were the only ones rating him and now half of GL rates him. This is why we need different opinions on GL, so stop calling people idiots for differing from yours. If I wanna call it a penalty for example, it's my individual judgement of it. It's my right and the best of GL's interest to call it a penelty

delete/archive all club sections, idc about history or the fact a couple are still active..give those active ones sticky threads in the general section, Arsenal, Madrid etc

if there's demand from other fanbases, they can get a sticky too..I'm sure you'll get the same activity

matter of fact just keep all footballing discussion in the GS IMO and have a few sticky threads for stuff like not worthy of a thread, comparing players etc

there's no need for anything besides general section currently and hasn't been for a few years now and having sections with like barely any posts makes the forum look dead AF, when the general section gets decent activity.

No need for anything other than GS and The Hub and some of those should be merged too tbh

I like the Discord idea but I know it's not going to happen right now.

In general I'm with Firenze. Get rid of most forums. If that can't happen at least tone it down massively.

The whole general section can be done in one forum. Right-Back is one thread, sticky or not.
I'd get rid of clubs which I guess not everybody likes. At least I'd cut it in half or so - get rid of Bayern, United, Milan, Inter, RoW, Chelsea.

In the Hub one forum for Media & Entertainment (games, science and media forum), one for Life & Humour (merge with odds&ends and politics). Maybe keep politics separate if you want to but I wouldn't. In general it makes sense splitting stuff up but only if you have enough activity. This year we've had posts in 13 different threads in the politics section - imo no need for its own forum.


Basically always keep in mind that based on the activity we could easily live with just 2 forums (football / off topic).

I wouldn't touch the club forums, they are smaller communities inside the big forum. Essential.

Failing that, these ideas are solid. No to Firenzes poverty 'remove all club sections' though. The active ones (Which he'd know nothing about) have plenty of separate discussions and I'd rather not try keep track of 5 different conversations in 1 thread.

Also I wouldn't replace the clean debate/RB sections i'd just remove them. Not a large enough user base to have general football topics spread out.

Agree with club sections being turned into threads in GS tbh. There was a time when I would actually only post in the Milan section and like Warrior said it was a community within the GL community, but that time is gone. Most of the discussion about Milan happens in the Calcio thread anyway. And that's with a club that actually has 3-4 active fans. For clubs like Bayern, Inter, etc. that literally only have one poster it makes no sense.

As long as people don't be harassing posters about their team, I don't mind seeing a Madrid thread in the GS. As for new sections, a proper NBA section might be something to look into as Freeza would definitely be experiencing a new form of suffering this coming season.

Juve section is like 75% of my posts (during season) closing it or transforming it into a mere thread would devastate me
