Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Hans: I get why your friends told you to watch out for episode 8, as that’s where I’m at, and the show has finally started picking up pace at this point. Episode 3 was just awful, and the first 3 episodes made me a bit pessimistic about this show, to be honest.
I’ll do my best to avoid any substantial spoilers, but the pacing has been so slow up until episode 8 that there’s not much to mention anyway. 10 more episodes to go. Hopefully, I’ve got the good parts ahead of me. Episode 8 was promising.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Finished the entirety of Twin Peaks: Return. Can’t say I’m hugely impressed, personally. The pacing of this show is incredibly slow. Excitement and suspense builds up towards the last few episodes, and without spoiling the ending, I’d be lying if I said I was satisfied with it.
There are parts of the show that I think are genuinely good, classic Lynch even, but the overall product left a lot to be desired. Unless you’re a substantial Lynch fanatic, I imagine you’d find Twin Peaks: return to be rather mediocre and unappealingly niche.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
^^Blue why havent you shared this with me yet because the premise of the show is literally me.
although in my case, it's easily party on a Friday night
Ramy Hassan is a first-generation Egyptian-American who is on a spiritual journey in his politically divided New Jersey neighborhood. He becomes caught between a Muslim community that thinks life is a moral test and a millennial generation that believes life has no consequences. Through it all, he's still trying to do the things that most 20-somethings do, like date. He is essentially a guy who is torn between praying on Fridays and going to parties on Friday nights. Which side will win out in this seemingly endless internal battle?

Going to plug for What We Do In The Shadows. Absolutely hilarious show.
2nd season is (somehow?) better than the 1st though I'm not sure it can top the energy vampire vs emotional vampire episode. That was just hysterical.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
anyone watch gangs of london? it was pretty good but a couple of episodes clearly stood out from the rest (unsurprisingly read these were the two directed by the guy who made THE RAID 1 & 2. Most other episodes had some great scenes rather than great episodes.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
I like Last Dance it's interesting. Episodes 7 and 8 out tomorrow i think. It was the final argument for me to get Netflix (which is the best 15$ i ever spent honestly)
Perhaps the chronology of the episodes is a bit confusing, they go back and forth several times

Oh and if you guys want to watch an absolute madness i suggest the mini series on Aaron Hernandez. Former NFL player who commit 3 murders and lived a double life during his short stint with the Patriots.
Takes 4 hours to watch all and it's a crazy story (also going back and forth with chronology lol)

Four episodes into ‘Normal People’ and I can already tell it’s something really special. Can recommend it to all my fellow romance-heads out here

i'll try it out, might as well vicariously live a romance while im still lockdown jobless and at home.
Ramy is good by the way, relatable for a young 20-something as i thought it would be, finished season 1 in a breeze. His friend who works at the cafe brings the comedy gold

The lead actress looks weirdly identical to Emmy Rossum

Penny Dreadful spinoff is unfortunately just not up to snuff. Natalie Dormer is the standout (unsurprisingly), but that's about it.
It's quite mediocre.

First 3 seasons of that show are some of the best comedy I've seen. Amazing stuff from an amazing cast.

I'm on that Korean kid episode in season 1 and fucking instinctively knew what Annyong meant the moment it was mentioned
Same episode "Abort, Abort, We are cleaning the dog". I'm crying.

Enjoy the ride man. First 3 seasons are arguably one of the greatest comedy on TV.

Is Arrested Development the same humour as Community?

I haven't reached there so can't completely compare the answer your question but the humor right now seems much more mature and "not on the spot", its built up which makes it so much more better.
Plus its a derivative, in Community you're looking for cold situational humor (which you expect from each character) its not exactly that in AD, they give you both cold and based on previous episodes ( I had no idea they'll go that down (that far down) to portray the same characteristic of one character) which is really good fun and adds to the story.

AD is totally different to Community in everything, and both are amazing.
