Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
just finished stranger things so Better Call Saul sounds like a good show to move onto. I don't remember where I finished tho, i think i've seen only the first 2 seasons.
Also rate the show, it's great television.

Better Call Saul isn't for everyone, but I really like it, personally. Can't wait for the next season to start. I wouldn't compare it to Breaking Bad, though. It may be set in the same universe, but BBS is substantially more slow paced, and they're quite different shows in general.

Saw two episodes for a university thesis. Didn't really enjoy it.
I think Alba Augusts is a future superstar though.

I really think The Good Fight is one of the best shows out there.

I didn't know The Good Fight was back already.
Meanwhile, just as I'm about to start on season two, Counterpart is canceled. Un-fucking-believable. I hope some other place picks it up.

First episode of season 3 might be the best episode yet.

I will have to give Counterpart another go, since you're so adamantly rating it highly.
I watched the pilot when it first was available, I thought it was decent even though watching the series is highly strangeand somewhat irritating for me, as it takes place in my everyday environment in Berlin which is supposed to be this futuristic world (1930s airport Tempelhof is the main institute building, 2nd episode takes place at Cafe Moskau, a former GDR club/restaurant building which after the wall fall used to be techno club and is now an event location), and that makes it somewhat harder to immerse into the fictional world.
But then I only watched the 2nd episode after a couple of months (think the pilot was made available/got ripped early) and I found it really hard to get back into the story and even figure out what's going on, and never made it past eipsode 2.
You'd say it's worth it?

If you're a fan of sci-fi and JK Simmons, I highly recommend it.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by futuristic world. From what I remember from the first season, it takes place in the present day. The difference is the major discovery in the 80s or 90s which changes the show's present.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Should have said alternate history world then, the Berlin as it is generated in the series is pretty retro-futuristic in style (in that it uses landmark architecture of Berlin's 20th century "totalitarian" past to characterize this strange administrative world with this 'UN' institue etc), and and not like the one of the present

The little cartoon song for NDAs was amazing. I was worried the political overtones of this show would be too much for many viewers. I love it tbh. Diane Lockhart is an amazing character. Always has been.

Supernatural season 15 will be the final.
It's an incredible achievement to run a show for 15 years.
I stopped watching around season 9 but man this show is my childhood. Also has the most recognisable intro of all TV shows.

The last of the old WB shows. It's been an institution on that channel. Sad to see it go, but this is definitely the right decision. It's explored virtually every there is to explore relating to its premise. That announcement video was super emotional. I hope to see these guys on other shows and that they just don't fade away.

VOD taking over!
Google-associated services, Apple, Amazon and Netflix will rule the industry at the end of the day.

With Disney's acquisition of Fox, Hulu is now owned 2/3 by Disney. They seem to be promoting their own brand over it, so it seems likely to die next once Disney+ rolls around.

Anyone watched Money Heist (La casa de papel)? Heard it's like a Breaking Bad / Prison Break combo.

Casa de Papel is definitely better than most shows out there currently. 100% worth a watch, won't be disappointed.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Just finished The OA on Netflix. My mind is blown. Soooo fucking good. I can't believe the sheer audacity of this show to finish season 2 the way they did. Soooo good. Brit Marling
Also has one of the best TV villains ever.
Season 1 has a slow pace but it's so worth it. There was a 50/50 reaction to Season 1 when it came out last year mostly because a lot of questions weren't answered but Season 2 answers so many questions and is just mind blowingly good. In retrospect, Season 2 makes the first season better as well because everything connects perfectly.
If you were a fan of Lost (early seasons), Fringe, and The Leftovers, this show is for you. Even if you weren't a fan of these, you cannot be missing out on this good and unique of a show. I know RG likes Brit Marling, so you better watch this brev.
And unlike Lost, Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij have already mapped out and finished the story in 5 parts. Hopefully Netfllix gives them all 5 seasons to finish the story.
