Honestly it's both the hype and the criticism that annoy me, I just like to hype him because I watched him in college and I like his style of play, but probably even more so because the Big Baller stuff is hilarious to me

My opinion is as such: he's not doing great right now and should be criticized for it. At the same time, he's on a very average (and young) team in a big market and has a large spotlight on him at all times, he's a young player and he's a rookie. He'll get better in time I think and have an overall good first year. People are quick to jump on hype train or meme train and there is no reason to with a rookie this early on tbh, imo at least

I think he's clearly the most talked about player this season. That alone should explain how polarizing he actually is though. Everything he does talked about like crazy. There's something special about this case. Ingram and D'angelo Russell both looked worse imo and it wasn't at 10% this level.

In a season where all the stars are playing like crazy and giving one all time statistical performance after the other. The media still wants to talk about Lonzo and the Lakers.

You might have different experience than this though. Too much medie to consume for anyone to get a 100% exact representation of it. But I feel it's pretty close.

Agreed, because honestly i think the issue isn't 3 point shooting like everyone on the outside claims.

It's just the easy thing to point to, two dominant big men? shooting pls. But the reality is the bigger issue is we don't have enough playmaking on the team.

I'd much rather see us sign players who can help create their own and others shot than shooting specialists tbh.

Rondo will help with that. The Pelicans bench seems awful too, when we played ya'll that was the biggest difference between us

The bench would probably be Tony Allen, Darius Miller, Chieck Diallo, Ian Clark and Jameer Nelson lmao.

Some of them have good contributions in games in fairness and Jameer has helped a lot but it just simply isn't a NBA level bench.

Eric Bledsoe would have been a great pick up for you guys imo

Like I said. The scrutiny is justified and there's really not much else to talk about. We live in an age where people like to hate, so they'd rather do that than talk about Simmons', Boogie's and Giannis great seasons so far

I don't watch basketball, however his attitude off the court had people at my job talking. Which leads me to believe he has probably not helped his cause.

What exactly has he done off the court? He has never in his life said anything remotely controversial or done anything that would make people hate him. If anything he's done the opposite.

Yeah, I'm done explaining myself. The bias is clear with Freeza. I have no horse in this race and just offering up a potential reason for the early criticism.

I'll say it one last time, any first round pick is going to have a lot of pressure as expectations are high as well as contracts.

@freeza are we not allowed to have our own opinion? If I didn't know any better I would think you might actually be his dad. I don't keep to up with all this and I still managed to hear about his attitude. If I was the only one making these claims, ok I would back off...but it seems others have the same sentiment. And we all know how much of a fan boy you are.

So far on the last page I've said this about Lonzo:
He's shot like shit. And seems to have a huge mental shooting slump.
He takes horrible shots in the paint and makes plays to complicated.
He's too robotic.

Positive things:
He's a great playmaker for a rookie.
He's not cocky and self-entitled.
His shot can be fixed with few tweaks.
He makes his opponents visibly better.
Lakers suck when he's not out there.
Great on defense for a rookie.

I don't really see anything out the wild here.

I actually found the Bledsoe meme funny. I don't mind people hating on his shooting. It's been bad. But when people say that he's been shit, I have to disagree, because there's more to his play.

I was and remain a humble athlete. I have never been a fan of big personalities and think you should earn respect as opposed to feeling yourself too much. But I know many greats have that mentality. Just a difference of opinion on personality which is subjective.
That is the only reason I feel you were coming across as a Lonzo fan boy. I will admit you are more knowledgeable as your support the team - I am just going off things I heard and I think it's sickening to sell a sneaker for so much money before being a professional.

Might just have been a misunderstanding tbh. I don't think the Sneaker thing is good. At least not in the long run. If they (edit: the company) get bigger, and can produce the shoes cheaper, and still don't make more affordable stuff it will become a real problem.

My whole point about this is just that LaVar really is the brains behind all the stuff with the BBB and shoes etc.

Lonzo is really a humble athlete from all the post game interviews I've seen. He never ever talks about himself in any way that promotes him being good. He's almost humble to the point where it's too much.



That's an example of where he just says the right thing basically.



This is from last night. THat's the instance where he shows most personality really. He is angry about not winning, so his achievements doesn't matter.

A lot of other players could've taken too much self-congratulory stuff in that record during a loss.
