Re: UK General Elections 2017
Labor gains 16 points in Wales:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/labour-poll-wales-general-election-2017-16-point-shift-swing-a7749786.html
And the Tory's advantage has halved over the past week:

When May called a snap election for June 8, surveys indicated she would win a landslide comparable with Margaret Thatcher's 1983 majority of 144 seats in the 650-seat parliament.
That picture appeared to change after both the Conservatives and Labour set out their election pitches to voters last week, with a Survation poll published on Monday showing May's lead over Labour had halved to 9 percentage points.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
For Labour to win the media need to continue grilling May, which they might do if they sense she's going to throw this election away and young people need to stop talking game on Social Media and actually register to vote.
I imagine the old people have turned on the Conservatives all over the country as was the case in areas in Wales after the 'dementia tax' banter and they're likely to vote in numbers as seen with Brexit.
Might be too little too late though. 2 Weeks to go and only now is May getting even 1/4 of the negative press that her opposition does.

Seeing as everyone other than the establishment class thinks the media is against them and that the media is the organ that decides public opinion, do people even have faith in democracy anymore? All seems like a sham.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
Jeremy Corbyn has made a controversial return to election campaigning after the Manchester bomb attack with a speech blaming UK foreign policy for terrorism at home.
http://news.sky.com/story/jeremy-corbyn-blames-foreign-policy-for-terrorism-in-uk-10893243
can you imagine what would have happened if this pussy was PM during ww2.

huh? Nothing he said is controversial.
Saying that the war on terror has contributed to the rise of terrorism is not controversial. It's a fact.
Amazing speech overall. Nailed everything.

yeah because Islamic extremists only started killing since the gulf war. The man is a pussy. Instead of fighting the enemy this Cnut is blaming the victims. This nob would surrender faster than the French if we ever got attacked by a invading armyRealGunner wrote:huh? Nothing he said is controversial.

The US were the ones who kickstarted terrorist organizations and gave them weapons and training though.
Also let's not act like this isn't some form of retaliation. People in the Middle East live in war zones caused by the western world where missiles and drones attack are part of their lives. Not exactly hard to grasp that more attacks will lead to more terrorism. You can't kill an idea with weapons.

yeah the problem with that argument is why did france Germany Sweden and Belgium get attacked if they do it as retaliation to the bush/blair wars.Freeza wrote:Unique wrote:yeah because Islamic extremists only started killing since the gulf war. YouGov shows Tories' lead plummeting to just 5 points after attacks:

Re: UK General Elections 2017
As I've said before, there's things I dislike about Baron Corbin as PM, but i'd wager a bet that every single person in UK/Visiting UK on GL would benefit from the Labour manifesto being put to task as opposed to the conservatives one.
What he said about actions in the middle east being responsible for a rise in terrorism is correct, to a degree.
But let's not pretend that these places were some sort of collection of hidden utopia's where the natives lived in peace & Unity until one day big bad Uncle Sam & the lads started bombing them.
And let's not forget that Islamic extremists hate the western way of life, not just our foreign policy. And yes, as I said in another thread and has been echoed here countries like Sweden who are being affected badly by terrorism don't fit into the aggressive Foreign policy idea at all. They're hit with terrorism purely because uncontrolled migration, taking in x hundreds of thousands of people who come from places with completely different cultures and value systems is F*CKING STUPID and any politician who advocates for that method of open door migration from these countries is endangering his/her own people.

Every single time May appears on TV she looks like a joke lol. Crowd openly laughed at her today. Corbyn smashed it as always.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
She's actually terrible at improvising in the slightest, any sort of interview where she's not waiting to unload a scripted af answer to a set question leaves her scrambling.
I can't imagine her negotiating with anybody for anything.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
Lib Dems projected to get about 10% of the vote, just 10 seats ridiculous
Then again Britain voted against the AV ref while Australia and Canada are moving in that direction, so I guess brits have the voting system they actually want

Not really, their ideas have become mainstream and invaded the conservative party. The reason they're so far down is because there's a realistic option advocating for the same thing.Unique wrote: its sad to see ukip that far down.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
For that to happen Labour needs
Young voters to turn out like never before.
Older voters to remain pissed off over the whole dementia tax
People tied in with the NHS to vote labour
And perhaps most importantly, the media to turn on the conservatives like they did Labour. Which isn't happening sadly.
If you browse social media you'd think 9/10 people vote labour already but it's the working class people that get 100% of their info from news stations and cheap newspapers that end up voting Tory to their own detriment.

Re: UK General Elections 2017
The Tory base isn't working class. Maybe people who started as working class but moved into the middle class.
The working class don't vote at all because of their gramscian 'labour' party.
Case in point: Brexit. Working class people supported that who will never in their lives support the Conservative party.

Yeah that's the point
