If Statham had the ability to put on an American accent, sure.

What's next. Ben Affleck can't play roles that aren't from Boston?

They're playing pretend. If one guy is better at it, they should get the role.

don't be silly now. my point was is America that short on actors that they need a brit to put on a bad American accent to play the part or vice versa. I admit that someone like hugh laurie can pull off the American accent very well. but why cast someone like statham in a pointless action roll then make him speak in a very bad American accent. why not just let him speak in a british accent its not like it means anything to the part he plays. I bet americans cringe watching that shit.

I can't remember when Statham has ever put on an accent that wasn't his own.

Worst example ever. And if they asked him to do that; it's probably due to him being the most famous star they could get for a fair amount of money.

Statham is my guilty pleasure, he's done it a fair few times. In the movie Parker they had him putting on an accent as part of the plot (not the same thing we're discussing I know), he was playing a Texan Laughing

you can imagine how bad that was. Action movies in general are an awful example though. Like 90% of Arnold's movies he was playing an American. For action movies the main actor is often the selling point.

Never rated Kong stuff. Don't know why they bothered to make another one. Is it just a straight reboot of the classic story? I thought Godzilla (with Cranston, not seen the recent Japanese one) was garbage too.

They rebooted this because of the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong film

I saw Godzilla with Cranston and Aaron Taylor Johnson. Thought it was meh.

Probably will watch Kong also even if it's meh.

Kong vs Godzilla is going to be one of those where it's gonna probabl be talked about a lot in the future with plenty of memes so I would have to watch it.

Because acting is not only about accents? John Lithgow an American won awards for portraying Winston Churchill, and not only because of his perfect accent but because of everything he did.

Manchester by the Sea was fantastic

Watched it 12 hours ago, went to sleep, woke up and I still feel effected from seeing it. Heartbreaking film that really takes an emotional toll

Its a masterpiece. A film that literally scarred me for life Lol.
Its not sadistic sadistic. When you look at it, you wont see many graphic torture scenes in it or anything. Instead its fully aimed at your psyche and mind and therein lies its beauty imo. Its more like Kubrick's Shining. In fact these 2 films, Funny Games and Shining did manage to scare me more than any typical horror movie did, so theres that.
And if you are watching it (not recommending or anything, its one helluva ride and is definitely worth checking out but it is surely not everyone's cup of tea), strongly recommending to watch the original German version and not the English remake.
