Re: The Movie House - Part 9
There's this one scene in The Wailing that is scene of the year contender. Bruv, it's intense.
The girl's... well, wailing can get annoying sometimes though.
Joe Pesci in GoodFellas is one of the all time great performances in film. The epitome of mob/gangster movies, it's a classic 5/5 for me. Ray Liotta was so good as well, agree that surprisingly out of the three De Niro, wasn't that memorable in the movie. Casino is good, but definitely a poor man's GoodFellas, I don't know why Scorsese directed pretty much the same movie twice in a row.
Hacksaw Ridge is out here, will try to catch it as soon as possible.

To all those who think highly of that fraudulent Airplane! movie, watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail and know where its at.
I watched that along with Charlie Chaplin's City Lights to end 2016, both are 5/5

Both are great but I prefer Airplane! over Holy Grail.

I do as well, though I rate both among the upper echelons of comedy movies.
Just personal taste really. I can't say I think one is genuinely better than the other, I simply prefer Airplane!

I died when the one fella read the carvings in the cave "...you can find the holy grail in the castle of urrrrrrrghh."
"what is that?"
"he must've died while carving it."
"if he was dying he wouldn't bother to carve urrrrrghh, he'd just say it."
"well, that's what's carved in the rock."

No Country For Old Men (2007)
I might be too thick but can anyone explain why this film is considered to be so good?
It was decent at best. Best and only good part of the film was probably the villain. Rest was forgettable. Was well made though. Maybe it's because I don't like western based films related to drugs?
6/10

American Honey 7/10
Meh. I expected more. Good portrayal of the social class but nothing really happened and 3 hours of nothing happening gets dull quick.

Can't speak for anyone else, but the villain defined this movie. He's legit a top 10 movie villain for me.

Re: The Movie House - Part 9
I agree to a lesser extent with RG. I think the movie is quite good. Definitely one of the better ones of that year. I enjoyed it, the suspense is great, the dialogue is great, I enjoy the cinematography, and Cigur (Sp?) is incredible. Despite that, I didn't find the movie to be incredible like many others did.
I love the Coen Brothers (who doesn't?) but I didn't see this as the 9/10 , 9.5/10 masterpiece that others did. It was like a 7.6 for me.

Re: The Movie House - Part 9
Beginning to think I just don't like Coen brothers.
I did love Chigurh. Like I said, he was the only interesting thing for me. I loved how they wrote him and didn't got for any cliche. His moral code was quite interesting. Definitely a character you can talk in depth about.

You don't like unique dialogue and characterisations of the hero, anti-hero and villain?
The Coen Brothers are special in a great way.
