Hans you won't believe what they just said on the commentary for the Newcastle game lol.
" There's a popular theory going around that Guardiola might have struggled to implement his tactics for the Manchester Derby. Because it was a lunch time kick off and he usually likes to give them instructions the morning of a game "

Playing out the back is still treated as a foreign concept here. One mistake has droves of pundits saying teams shouldn't do it and should just get rid. They never consider the benefits of doing it - probably because none of them actually know and think it's just a stylistic choice.

Because according to them that didn't count because Barca had Messi. Despite the fact it was obvious to everyone who wasn't completely stupid that Barca didn't win those games because of Messi.
They won them because they were the better team all over the pitch, despite Mourinho treating the games like he was managing Osasuna.
Pep didn't have Aguero nor Gundogan on his team and Bravo making his first PL appearance, United were at home and Mou still gets it wrong vs the best manager in the game. Mourinho isn't half the couch Pep is, plain and simple.
Also Bailey got exposed. People up to this game were making it seem like he was the best CB out there. Relax.

It's absolutely bizarre.
It's like they refuse to understand the benefits of having the ball as opposed to not having it.

Most of them came from an era where posession of the ball wasn't regarded as important as getting up the pitch and into the penalty area. It's so ingrained they apply it even now to modern football.
Doesn't help that some teams just do it poorly. So confirmation bias comes into it. A mistake = "playing out is bad, just get rid, don't take chances". But none of them will comment if the ball is lumped up and the team doesn't see the ball for the next five minutes and can't get out their half.

Is Sakho not fit? Surely he's better to pair with Matip than Lucas. That was a comical mistake

Yes he isn't. Nor is Lovren or Klavan.

Ok, was wondering if Klopp is just refusing to use him over some back door beef or something

Lucas is decent at CB. He played very well the whole half. That mistake was just absolutely a freak moment. He's played there before and done very well and did well today until that moment. Lovren has made the same mistake Lucas has today multiple times in the last 2 seasons and they cost us goals.

At least Savage and Owen, even if not the brightest lights in their own right, pointed out the obvious.

It's not even a freak moment. Lucas has had passes like that in him always. Being a midfielder. It's ridiculous to play him at CB, it's just un-CB-like mistakes waiting to happen - and we've just conceded from such a mistake. If that was Skrtel making that mistake you'd be travelling across the globe to murder him.

This will always be a problem for Liverpool unless klopp can somehow fix it. We play well then give a silly goal away then the team panic and play shit from then on.

Liverpool are fantastic to watch. I wish Madrid do some of the stuffs Liverpool did this game.
Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 2
With Liverpool smashing Leicester and Coutinho not playing, I may have a chance to win my fantasy match this week!
Just need Conte to come through. A clean sheet from Chelsea and preferably an Azpilicueta assist to Hazard. And Lukaku not to score...
