English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 12
Firenze wrote:I wonder if Leicester will benefit from the mythical post old manager syndrome and pull off a win tonight
As much as I dislike them for what they did to Ranieri, I hope they thrash Loserpool
Nobody has thrashed Liverpool in like 2 years.
Unless your equivalent of trashing = any win or draw.

The Netherlands NT isn't built around him and he's played very well there. It's just a matter of confidence and adjustment for him right now. He was very unlucky at the beginning of the season when he was generating a bunch of chances and putting in good work but he just couldn't finish -- and a striker with no confidence can look really bad at times.
We need both Memphis (who is already on his way) and Janssen to rediscover what made them successful in the first place and regain the confidence needed to have strong performances. It's kind of like a catch 22 in that a lot of players need to play well to have confidence and need confidence to play well. They just have to get their heads right. The reality is neither of those players should have gone to United or Spurs where they weren't going to have room to make mistakes as young players. There's a really interesting study on the effects of being a big fish in a small pond for development and confidence and how it relates to success that I've been reading lately -- and it definitely can explain a lot of these very talented players that fizzle out by moving to clubs too big for them too early.
Come on now, Janssen just lacks the skillset. For Alkmaar he was as much a poacher as you get. I just rewatched his goals for Alkmaar and it's exactly as I remember it. He beat two players in that 10 minute long video. He can't create chances for himself and it's not like he's a great passer either. They feed him balls and he finishes them (and quite a few of them because of scrubby goalkeepers btw). He's simply too one-dimensional to play for a top team.
Memphis is a totally different story.

I would take a high scoring 5-5 draw with Wes Morgan literally pooping in his trousers, the shorts getting torn and his diarrhea running down his legs for the camera to pick up. Actually want it to happen each time they play. Morgan pooping accidentally whenever going for the ball.

Yeah Lucas has been a CB under Klopp.
His DM days are over.
His Liverpool days are over also. He's gone in the summer.

Since I couldn't care less about where Arsenal finish this season, I really hope Liverpool trash Leicester. 5-0 or something.

I think you're selling him a little short. I'm not saying he has Suarez potential but he's got a good skillset to flourish on a team that is talent heavy on the wings and through the middle. His strength, movement, hold up play, finishing and ability to play in other players is very good. His speed and skills are not great for a striker but he has a powerful shot and great finishing instincts. Look at the game against England as an example, or Poland. He's definitely not the type of player that will carry a team but those kind of strikers are few and far between. If Liverpool ever played the 4-2-3-1 again, or like in Wenger's team he'd be a great striker to have.
Again though at the moment he's lacking in confidence and can't really make much use of his good abilities, but I'd hardly call him one dimensional.

Touching by the audience in King Power.
All are united behind Ranieri and some stand firm arms crossed in order to have it not seem as if they are applauding the turncoat players. Players themselves dont look comfortable.
C'mon you Reds.

Jamie *bleep* Vardy scores.
1-0 Leicester.
LCFC's first goal in over 10 hours, first in 2017.
We have been absolutely terrible.

Leicester suddenly putting the effort in now that Ranieiri is gone.
Liverpool look like they didn't expect this Leicester to turn up.
Aaaaand it's 2-0.
