Gundogan is off to City and Hummels is off to Bayern. Plus theres a ton of Reus and Abu rumors among other BVB players maybe leaving this summer.
They get it together every season for the past 8 seasons, they just missed one due to an epic spell of injuries, I think they can compensate losing basically any player as long as they don't go too dirt-cheap.
Of course Hummels would be a blow, but they'll buy someone else. Or have some ridiculously talented youngster step up. Tuchel will manage.

They can replace any 1 player surely. But Hummels, Gundogan and maybe 1 of Auba/Mkhi/Reus, thats too harsh.
Kinda what happened to us with Pirlo, Vidal and Tevez moving on. We managed, but we had a rough patch in the transition.

They could lift Marvin Friedrich from the Knappenschmiede as André Breitenreiter obviously doesn't feel like integrating their fresh academy products at Schalke...

rwo power wrote:So what? You might feel bad for Gladbach, too, for example. If you look at the last seasons, they lost Dante to Bayern, Roman Neustädter to Schalke, Marco Reus to Dortmund, Marc-André ter Stegen to Barca, Christoph Kramer to Leverkusen, Max Kruse to Wolfsburg and this year it is well possible they might lose Granit Xhaka to wherever. So about every club (bar Bayern) will lose important players.
I feel bad for any club that the second they reach the top of the table, they end up getting like half of the squad gutted out. That's rough. I mentioned BVB's situation because we were discussing Hummels

Carlo already wanting actual CB's instead midfielders converted LB converted twice over to CBs. Hope Kimmich enjoys Darmstadt.

They should. Superior management for the past 5 years. Lower pay, though.

Re: Mats Hummels returning to FC Bayern
The PL & La Liga fanboys are some of the worst people in here - Big hypocrites.
Sahin for 8M Madrid - Yeah
Kagawa for 12-14M - MU - Yeah
Ter Stregen from Gladbach - Yeah
Matipl (FREE) from Schalke - Yeah
Gundogan to City (30M) - Yeah
And it goes on & on. And now add Xhaka to Arsenal.
You guys want to pick up guys on the cheap n make a monopoly market but when Bayern buys there is a big issue.
Dortmund can't retain their players - Hummels is going - Either to Bayern, United or Barca - He has made a decision, if he wants to stay in Germany or maybe likes Bayern, he will come here or go abroad. We will pay as much as any other club.
And we are ready to sell Goetze to Dortmund, not sell him to Liverpool like the hypocritical fans want.
Hummels @ 27, I cdn't care less if he comes, Dortmund have Ginter, Sokratis & Subotic anyways. Gundogan is gonna destroy them, Sahin-Castro are nowhere near that level. And you can't get a top CM for 30M.
I would rather have Gundogan to be honest.

Couldn't agree more.
Gündogan for 30m will be the biggest steal. On form he's the best all round CM in the world. He'll improve City tenfold.
But Hummels returning to his childhood club is an outrage
Unique wrote:so when you look at it Bayern are using bvb players to beat bvb
Then you're looking at it in a pretty tilted way tbh.
Would make more sense to say that Dortmund build their succes of the last 8 years around a player they snatched from Bayern.
Again: Hummels was at Bayern from seven years old until he was 21. He spent much more years as a Bayern player than as a BVB player.
His wife was bloody "Miss FC Bayern 2007" when they good together
His father was Bayern youth coach. He left because Klinsmann had no use for him, Müller and Badstuber would have followed if we hadn't fired Klinsmann.
Effectively, he was merely a loan worker at BVB the last 7 years
Time to come home
His development has stalled at BVB, he needs to start learning again, from superior players like Boateng

Epl and la Liga Teams doesn't compete directly with Dortmund it's a double loss if they sell to Bayern beacuse they got weaken and his league rivals gets stronger, it's not that hard to comprehend that

On the other hand, you can't really say that Dortmund are weak.Claudio84 wrote:Epl and la Liga Teams doesn't compete directly with Dortmund it's a double loss if they sell to Bayern beacuse they got weaken and his league rivals gets stronger, it's not that hard to comprehend that
I mean, they collected 74 (!) points in 31 matchdays, and they could well end with 83 points, a number that was only surpassed thrice in all of the Bundesliga's history (by Bayern in 2013, 2014 and 2016) so far, after Dortmund was the first Bundesliga club ever to surpass 80 points in 2012.

Re: Mats Hummels returning to FC Bayern
This seriously sucks.
Dortmund still have to play a cup final and this douchebag who is the captain is talking about a move not only to the title rivals but the team which Dortmund are going to play in the final?
*bleep* right off.

Agreed.
This is different than they losing Gotze or lewa because he is captain/backbone of the defence and team also relatively more difficult to replace than other two. Tough season ahead for bvb if u ask me

Losing Hummels will suck, but won't be worse than losing Götze was, Gündogan will hurt a lot more, and yet they arguably did ok too during his lengthy injury spells - they got Weigl.

Pep got Götze when he arrived, only fair that Carlo will get his Dortmund star when he arrives.

They aren't weak at all, that's the issue though. That you have a strong team, getting gutted by the leagues most dominant team on top of also losing players to other top teams in Europe. They will never become a true force if every season they are trying to build a fresh new squad of players that way. They will eventually get it wrong. Kind of reminds of me Valencia back in the day.

Re: Mats Hummels returning to FC Bayern
Hummels is leaving anyways, whether to Barca or Bayern or MU or wherever.
We won't beat Dortmund because of Hummels - I would rather start with Boateng-Martinez as of now than Hummels.
It is good that top German players stay in the BL - Otherwise you weaken the league - Dortmund have too many CB's & I am not sure Hummels should even start over Sokratis & Ginter at this point (Subotic at rotation).
Doesn't hurt Dortmund, Strengthens Bayern a bit, Dortmund get 30M to buy new players - And we are selling them Goetze, they are not Madrid-Barca to us, it is not that rivalry. We are a 450M Revenue odd club to Dortmund's 250M!

Pretty sure you either barely understand footfall or have not even seen Dortmund. Most of the comments I see from other league posters are a joke & beyond ridiculous! It's going to nonsensical territory.
I wouldn't even start Hummels if I was Dortmund now & I would pay over the odds for Gundogan for Bayern not freaking Hummels!
