EPL is not that high a level despite the huge money. EPL teams are routinely failing in CHL.
The teams are not good enough mostly technically n tactically & get outplayed in midfield often!

A Pep team with awful defensive discipline in a CL away match?!
Oh, but how shocking! Deplorable!

I was counting Neymar's miss in the 83rd as another penalty. But ok. It should have only been 5-0.

I guess it's easier having the best footballer of all time playing for you and not against you.

No excuse to lose 4-0 though. Teams have shut down Messi on several occasions. Also, I've seen you say this like a million times already, give it a rest ding dong.

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
the score is inflated
we would of finished maybe 2-0 or maybe even drawn had there not been a red for them.
man city was unlucky not to have scored one or two against us in the first half.
overall we played better but lets not act like this is the first time barca have demolished a team.. we've done it to real madrid, to atletico, arsenal, etc etc
a bit funny to say there's no excuse to lose 4-0 against a team with MSN.

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
forget the result. but at this juncture i must say, people need to stop lying to these goalkeepers and selling them fools gold. the best keepers to ever grace the game, and i have seen a couple of them, were not the best because they played the ball with their feet. your job is to stay in goal, organize your area and catch the ball. quit the unnecessary shenanigans
it doesn't even make sense. even if as a goalie you like passing to your defender rather than blasting out; so many moves have to be made before a goal results, to the point where crediting you as some sort of 'assist' guy is ridiculous.
and if you feel you want to try something extravagant like a medium pass, then don't be a keeper. become an outfield player. that bravo piece of foolishness was unnecessary, very unnecessary. the two defenders were closing in on suarez, i bet they could have got him. first of all he rushes way out of his area, then instead of blasting it like nfl, tries a small pass.....foolish on all levels. and they've lied to him that that's what a "new age" goalie should do.... this LIE about goalie using his feet has been so entrenched that when the defenders saw bravo rushing out, they took it as normal and fell back
you can be awarded a freekick from where bravo rushed to and still not score it, that should tell you there's still ground to cover, and more importantly defenders near by. the sweeper keeper thing is getting out of hand.
guess what, even if neuer never rushed out, or played the ball with his feet, he'd still be an excellent goalie. sweeper keeper doesn't give him an edge in any regard. very foolish from bravo.

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
I say this again, and this game showed it, is that Pep's system/philosophy is flawed, in that the defenders and GKs are just being asked too much at times imo, they are just bound to make mistakes, no matter how good there are. I feel for Bravo and the others who have performed well so far this season and their mistakes were always bound to happen. It happened at Bayern and at Barca too. Its a natural result of his system of playing, defenders and GK are pressed like crazy, isolated at times, and under so much pressure in most games.
The other thing is Man C looked lost when they got down to 10 men, just an example, with a Mou team with 10 men you can see a huge difference.
Hence as good as Pep is, I still think his style has such a big weakness(s), but I guess no system or style is perfect.

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
@learning, tough for any team to play well with ten men, especially when the side they're playing are already better 11 vs 11. with ten men and even results, you can try and duke it out on defense. with ten men and down a goal, you're between a rock and a hard place, especially with managers like wenger, pep who like attacking, and can't fathom the idea of playing defense when down a goal in a non-two legged elimination tie
the goalkeeper thing is what irritates me about so called "innovative-ness" that people try to sell. guess what, if you're not able to use your feet, you're most likely to play it safe and not have these kind of blunders.....you'll have blunders, every goalie does, but not these foolish ones.
and the goalies (who don't usually use their feet) that have had blunders with respect to backpasses, didn't have those blunders because they couldn't use their feet, many of them have it because of absentmindedness....you don't need to have the skills of maradona to blast a back pass off the park and out of reach. didn't know where else to post this goalie rant of mine.
but its getting foolish, soon defenders would be asked to score at least 8 goals a season, and defensive mids asked to dribble. stick to what you know how to do, and don't try and be a hero, especially not in your defensive end. dribbling the striker isn't getting you a goal or assist

i think guardiola fans/apologists have done much of the talking for city fans on here, and those who hate/dislike him have done the talking against city. so the sort of backlash or kneejerk when city wins, or when city drops points has been strongly between those two camps....i don't think i've been to the city forum so i don't know how the discussions are there. maybe the club rivalries are more pronounced on there

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
I wouldn't dare to ask him to win every thing all the time or get upset when he doesn't but for the very least, I would ask him as a fan to not give Lucho more wins. The current aggregate score is 10-2 which Futbol more than likely has in front his house.

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
It's actually 9-3, but tbh last night I felt whatever Pep was playing at he was spot on with his formation/tactic, we had Messi/Neymar tracking back to get the ball they flooded the midfield well and limited chances to the front 3, brainfart in the first half from City allowed the goal and another allowed the red and game was done then.
Glad we got the victory, but it again shows our midfield and defense need little work mainly midfield.

i meant that term more as a jab to his over-enthralled fans, not to him...the other day he stated the obvious and emoticons were flying all over the place. he could say "the better team won" at a press conference and that will be quoted with crying emoticons on here

Re: Pep Guardiola's adventures in Manchester City
Have you ever thought that those emoticon is just for jokes? No need to get all serious about this stuff, I'm sure your referring to my emoticon, which I just do for the fun of it.
As far as what he said when I posted the article it's true its obvious, but in reality its not too most people, hence it's refreshing hearing someone who's coached now in 3 leagues is giving his honest assessment. I don't believe he said those things about the league because he was successful there as you claim.

Pep haters are embarrassing.
Basically with each nonsensical anti-Pep post they are signing a paper which says "I am an idiot".

i don't think it has anything to do with Pep. He is probably one of the 3-4 best there is at the moment.
