Can't help but feel when a new manager comes in there's going to be some players who won't see the time of day.

Rumours: 110k p/w extension till 2021 for Jack, who has 2 years left.
Don't mind. Hope the lad gets past his injuries and starts contributing regularly though.
Same goes for Welbeck, and to some extent, Theo and Ox. Not playing every week (i.e. benchwarming) has done some good with Gibbs btw

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Neville offered to take Wilshere on loan for the rest of the season. We rejected it but I think we should have sent him there
1) warm weather will help him recover faster
2) He won't be able to get to his best till May anyways when we are out of every competition.
3) He will learn quite a bit in La liga
4) He will dominate every midfield there bar Barcelona and that will be hilarious

Arsenal are planning a bid for Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell, after a £3.5m summer bid was rejected. [Telegraph]

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Put Gibbs at perma LW.
Or he also plays RB (according to Wikipedia), so Debuchy replacement then.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
lol never seen Gibbs play RB. Maybe only a few games off the bench in early days in his career during prime banter era.

Would either Payet or Mahrez be useful addition to our squad?

Mahrez, yes. I'd take him over Ox and Walcott atm.
Not sure where Payet will fit in though with Ozil already in the team.

You can have all of them.
Isn't going to win us shit when they're fondling titties with Jack & co in the injury room.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Just a thought. Not very original, more a reminder. A lot of transfer speculation about Arsenal this summer focuses on positions like deep/central midfield, attack, and maybe replacement fullbacks. But I wonder if we'll actually see another signing that might appear, on paper, a "luxury" player ... ?
A versatile attacking midfielder, someone creative who can do a job at #10 or on the flank, might seem surplus to requirements but actually if we had injuries to Özil and Alexis at the same time, we might be hurting pretty bad there. Especially with Cazorla evolving into a deeper player, and Ramsey not necessarily ever settling into the CAM role as he once looked destined to do. And with Rosicky almost definitely leaving.
Given the recent track record (Özil, Cech, Alexis), I suspect Wenger will keep an eye on guys like Isco or Götze, big name players who may prove surplus to requirements at their successful clubs.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
That's not true.
We always had ... *drum roll* DEAD WOOD!
Just that our surplus was so bad that we rather never saw them again.
AW swears by 2 players for each position, even if it means that the full backs play CB/DM and the we fill 3 of 4 attacking positions with creative midgets.

Dead wood is more like excess or residue imo

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
To be fair, both Özil and Cesc were clear, pricey upgrades in positions where I think many of us would have been unsurprised if Wenger had decided, "nah, no need to upgrade there."
I think that given the recent history and the current financial state of Arsenal, we can say that Wenger is at least open to building some kind of depth using some big players.
