The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
MJ wrote:Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke more or less confirmed that Aubameyang has a price and can be replaced if the right offer comes in."One must never make the mistake to believe that a club like BVB is dependent on a player," he told BILD. "We are not dependent on anyone. When Robert Lewandowski left, we found [a replacement] and he even has three more goals than Lewa.
"We are now so well positioned that we can offer alternative solutions again and again.[Our aim is that] our team stays together. We do not have as much money as the top stars in the Premier League, but we have a lot of other things to offer – for example our players were able to celebrate Christmas."

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
We were actually linked with Troy Deeney
Dat middle class hard working man alongside Sanchez and Joel 'cherry picker from costa rica' Campbell
Ramsey and Elneny both with 92 stamina
unreal
Sign Klopp and we are set for a solid 7th placed finish

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Turns out Auba skipped training yesterday for 'personal reasons' but is expected back today. Probably had an appointment with his hair stylist.
Ginter said something on the lines of 'I hope he stays' after the training session, although he also said that for Ilkay.
Coupled with Watzke's statement that nobody is irreplaceable at BVB, the whole thing has picked up some more steam.
Think BVB head to Dubai for the winter training camp tomorrow - Auba should be travelling too.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Turns out Auba was only heading to tomo's African player of the year award, in full knowledge of BVB. He'll join them in Dubai after. So, now we can surely put that to rest?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I beg to disagree with most of the people here regarding Aubameyang. 1 great season at Buli does not warrant 42 mill. He is not an elite striker who will take us to the next level.
I am fine with Giroud and Walcott for now to be honest. Spend that 42 million + Arteta, Rozza and Flamini's wages to get us a top tier all around striker over the summer. Someone like Greizmann maybe?
For now, we just need few reinforcements . Our squad is more than able to get to the finish line.

It's not most people, it is only me on this train And natural, given BVB is my second team.
Btw, Auba has been sensational - it's not like some one season wonder stuff.
Also, the transfer is just media BS. BVB have no reason to sell, even at 42m. He's contracted till 2020 and there's no release clauses in there
Also, for all that money and wages that you mention, I would say Griezmann isn't the same level - you're talking Benzema/Lewandowski money. Griezmann, Aubameyang, Cavani, etc. would be one rung lower for me.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
They are great strikers no doubt, but I feel as though we dont appreciate our own boys. We have in our disposal one of the best finishers in the English game and a big striker who scores goals and is an integral part of our buildup in the final third.
There can always be room for improvement, but the strikers that would truly be upgrades from our current ones are not going to be available for some time. The likes of Lewandowskis, Suarezs.
We really should have taken our chance with Suarez.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Griezmann isn't an out-and-out striker. He always plays with a partner that distracts defenders while Grizemann exploits the space. Top-class finisher but not someone who's going to lead the line on his own.
A trio of Ozil, Alexis and Griezmann behind a striker though looks fantastic. And £40mil+ would be about right for him since, in my eyes, he's the same class of player as Ozil and Alexis, or at least getting to that level.

The striker situation is looking a bit hopeless to be honest, I have given up hope. I can't see how we are going to get a world class striker who he is in his prime. The usual suspect will always be around lurking

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
We won't go for those 60m+ fees tbh.
The best bets would be up and coming strikers, like we did with Welbeck.
I still have some hopes for Welbeck, assuming he gets fit. We have seen so damn little of him.

Well look at it this way EL Patron, we won't need a world class striker if Griezmann somehow comes in. Like Jay said, Alexis - Ozil - Griezmann behind a striker looks *hearts in eyes*
