Munir will get the same playing time he got last year. Sandro left so that leaves space open up front for Vietto and Munir to share as back up strikers/wingers when needed. Rafinha is in Brazil with Neymar getting ready for the Olympics, let's hope he doesn't get injured lol

Meh. Not that hyped about Vietto at all. He didn't make it at Atleti last season and if Simeone is willing to let him go after 1 season I don't see how he could be Barca quality.

He was great at Villarreal. Some players just strive in certain systems better. I don't see why he won't improve under us with Messi/Suarez/Neymar/Iniesta/Gomes/Rakatic/Turan/Sergi/Busq/Rafinha feeding him. Our entire game is designed to get our forwards in good positions to score. Under Simeone the entire game is designed to defend first from all angles and then move forward with the ball.

Besides, finding a quality striker willing to play back up to MSN isn't easy. I read lots of rumors this summer alone of quality players we approached and they were like F that, no thanks I like Barca but I would never play with those 3 guys on the team. I mean we were apparently considering RVP since we couldn't get anyone else at one point, let that sink in. With that in mind, I think Vietto will do great with us.

I'm also convinced now more than ever that Turan is headed out. We spent way over our 60M Euro transfer chest and we need to recoup some cash to balance the books. The only player that hasn't fitted into our team that we could get a reasonable price for is Turan. But the weird thing is that Lucho keeps vouching for him. I think if it were up to Lucho we would have a team full of Turans

I share fútbol's skepticism, if Simeone is letting him go he is not a fighter. Then again if you're going to be bench fodder for Griezmann might as well be bench fodder for Messi, so it makes sense from his perspective.

Yes, obviously Barca's system is a lot more friendly towards attacking players than Atletico's. Still, quality always shines through. Angel Correa looks much better for example despite being even younger and new to Europe and La Liga.

Also, as defensive as Atletico are against the big boys, they still scored the most goals in La Liga after Real and Barca. It's not as if they are camped in their own box against Eibar or Getafe.

Having said that, it will be very exciting nonetheless to watch all these new young players in a Barca jersey. Digne, Umtiti, Gomes, Vietto, Denis Suarez, Samper promoted and Sergi Roberto getting a full season at rightback, maybe ter Stegen becoming #1 in La Liga. A lot to look forward to. Feels like a whole new squad in fact, now that I listed the names.

Had written that half in jest. Luis Enrique didn't even mention Douglas for right back. What surprises me though is there are no transfer rumors at all for him. As for Munir I agree with your idea but he was still preferred to Sandro who was sent away first. I read Rakitic's comments and that's certainly pleasing.

I read yesterday that the Vietto deal is done but today I read Barca is going after van Persie or Gomez.

Tello and Montoya have been firmly kicked out by Enrique, a bit too harshly I feel. Not that I wanted to retain them but he could have been kinder to them.

Adriano just had to leave after the Digne signing. As it is he was playing so little. He has been a really useful squad player and we thank him for his contributions.

Enrique seemingly wants to cover that position with Vidal/Roberto. I am not convinced with that. In an recent interview even Xavi has said that we will miss Dani Alves. I couldn't agree more.

Rumors Turan and Verm are gonna be sold in order to help recoup some of that cash we been spending and to make room for the new signings.

Looks like the Barca board has gone overdrive in an attempt to compensate for the lack of long term planning in recent years. Quantity over quality is the new mantra. Paying up north on squad material. Apart from Umtiti, I have doubts over the rest ever becoming starters.

As for Vietto, he strikes me as a mental weakling. I remember how he looked distraught after missing a couple of chances against us in the CDR 14/15, and then just went missing after that. Add Simeone's lack of faith in him, and I seriously hope we keep away. I'd rather have kept Tello, who I know is one-dimensional, but his pace on the break (with Suarez' movement) could have been useful in Lucho's more direct system. A plan b of sort.

But whatever,..we have added some depth for rotational purposes, but I just don't trust most of them to adequately replace any of our star MF/attackers just before an important stretch of the season if it came to that.

Yesterday we were sure of signing Vietto. Today it's supposed to have been a case of smoke without fire. Instead we are supposed to be close to signing Kevin Gameiro.

maybe simeone is too harsh on vietto, he could just need different coaching.

regardless he is very young and 17m for a young forward isn't bad in 3 years if he's a flop it wont be too hard to get 10m or so from him ..

but i agree with messixaviesta so far the rumor seems to be just that a rumor, atletico president came out and said no offer has been done yet?
but sevilla president says vietto is choosing between barca and sevilla.. so who knows.

I also like Tello, but you guys forget why we sent him out in the first place. We was apparently talking allot of crap in the messing room and claiming he should be starting or something like that, which lead to entire squad/board turning on him. Turned into a brat and Pique and a few others even indirectly dissed him in interviews and he was shortly loaned out. It's been a while, but I remember it going down something like that. Granite he's older now, hopefully matured but I think the club doesn't want him back for those old reasons. Also, we are looking for a striker, not a winger. Munir's been used on the wings, Vietto would be the back up striker. Tello isn't a striker, neither is that Carassaco or whatever that Belgium guys name is from Atleti someone keeps mentioning. Hence the Gameiro/RVP/Jonas/Lacazette/Vietto rumors. Club is looking for a pure 9 for the bench

This can't happen, Gameiro I have nothing against the guy but he isn't Barca level. Too much dead wood on the bench already.

only downgrade this this upcoming season is the rightabck, but realistically there is no one in the market that can replace dani alves.

i mean we have vidal for that.. probably will try to get someone like Bellerín or something janurary/next summer

Nah Sergi Roberto is bang average. Milan quality might be a bit of an exaggeration but he's nowhere near Barca starting quality. Offers absolutely nothing going forward and is quite average defensively. Vidal was a good purchase and I thought he'd be a decent replacement but considering he wasn't played at all last year I doubt he'll suddenly start this year.

Sergi will be fine against La Liga fodder but in the big games you'll be missing Alves sorely.

Roberto is getting his ass beaten first time he faces a decent player on wing that's for sure. Vidal has shown glimpses of potential last season but for some unknown reasons he was sidelined by Lucho. So after Dani left, it was given that RB signing was the prioriy but Club has been surprisingly quiet about it. It maybe due to the fact that there are not many potential candidates in market worth giving shot or we have shortlisted the candidates but don't want to come across desperate to other clubs.

sergi roberto has his good moments, he started in the 4-0 beating we gave real madrid
even gave the first assist after a great run

he'll be fine against bottom half teams
vidal will HAVE to do because that's all we have.
