If I was judging tbf i'd never be scoring in favour of a boxer who constantly interrupts the boxing match to give his oncoming opponent a cheeky hug
Problem is, you can do all that cautious momentum killing shit and not only win, but win easily

Honestly gonna go watch a Muhammad Ali documentary to see some actual goat boxing. I wish we could witness someone as goat as him or Sugar Ray Robinson in our generation.

Boxing works like if parking the bus and hoofing the ball into the stands counted as scoring goals.
And they wonder why the sport is dying. Change the rules to favor offense something, just like every single other sport has over the past few decades.
I feel like I just watched a guile player throw sonic booms until the clock ran out and got called the greatest street fighter player ever for it.

BC is right on this being a bad advertisement of the sport. All the casuals are furious atm both at the result and how underwhelming the contest was.

Boxing favouring all this cautious hugging & dancing crap is bad for keeping viewers interest long term. And because the heavyweight division is so shit you can't even follow that atm to get your fill of heavy hitters slugging it out
So you either watch top class midgets box for points or 240 pound slugs with less technique than a dead rabbit slug it out.

As expected , Mourinhoweather just again showed how boring boxer he is. utter boring boxing if you can call that boxing....if this guy becomes the flagship posterboy for Boxing then i weep for it.

Moneyweasel running around like a scared kitten and hugging Pacman the rest of the time. It must've been rigged for him to come out as a clear winner
He boxed for the money Pac for the love of boxing.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Haven't watched it yet but none of you clearly understand what boxing is, it's not a street fight to see who can pummel each other to death.
It's about getting hits in and not being hit, thus the term boxing and not fighting.

This. Most of these guys are clueless. Manny looked outboxed. Immediately Floyd tagged him at the start of the first round with that right hand all his strategy went out of the window. It was a clinic. Technically speaking, Floyd is the best boxer I have ever seen.
He threw more punches and landed more and he is being called defensive for this fight?

Please stick to a sport you understand. Manny wanted this fight because he needed the money At least do some research and see the relationship between Pacman and IRS. Reading half these posts here are painful tbh.[/quote]

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
WAT? Last time I was online this thread was at page 14.
All the non-boxing fans turned up its safe to say
So boringly straightforward but that was what I expected.
Mayweather is just insane at what he does. He fought like he has done throughout his career and he always seemed in control and controlled the pace of the fight.
Like many I wanted Manny to win, mainly because I've always been a Pac fan and not because I hate Floyd for being a self-, money-obssessed asshole. However a Manny win was just holding on to a miracle really. Just goes to show that miracles don't happen and that life is cruel.
Manny in hindsight maybe could've gone YOLO a bit more in the last few rounds, but Floyd is just insane at controlling a fight he is in. First of all Floyd's reach gave him a massive advantage, from Round 7 onwards you could see just how he kept a distance between himself and Manny with that reach and his jab. Basically landed a lot more than Manny since there on in. Manny with the occasional tucking him into the corner or ropes but then Floyd blocks his combos or just ducks out with his speed. Even if Manny did go YOLO he most probably would've just walked into another Marquez-shot, because of Floyd's notorious counter-punching ability and his reach. I might even go out on a limb here and say if that KO didn't go down against Marquez he probably wouldn't have been as cautious in this fight and would've gone in with more aggression, but it is what it is.
I think even Floyd landed the better attacking shots when he went on his front foot here and there.
Overall not the best fight you would see, but I think it did enough to live up to some expectation.
Floyd the undisputed master of his era.

It's fine hating him but his boxing talent is untouchable.
