While landing a percentage of double the jabs and power punches and double overall.
It's fine hating him but his boxing talent is untouchable.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Man i'm no boxing fan but even i knew Floyd was going to win that after 12 rounds, he did what was expected of him, he did what he needed to do to win. He won the contest fair and square for me, most manny's punches looked like they did no damage or hit his glove.
All i see is Mayweather coping all this shit when it's not really his fault, the sport(or maybe the division) is just like that, it really isn't that exciting to watch, the Hype was far to great for it to be played out that way, most part timers/ non boxing fans want action, boxers just want to really win.
I think UFC has a better chance to win these part timers/ non fighting fans over, Aldo vs Mcgregor should be a good fight.

Not that I don't get boxing, it's just retarded as it is. You can win without doing damage to your opponent at all.

That's not the idea though
Anyway just watched the fight and it was so easy Manny tried to throw combos but everytime he did Floyd's jab would keep him away.
Gave him two rounds, if you are being generous you could give maybe one more on the account of a close round on aggression but that's it.
Was just as easy as the Marquez fight, can't say i'm surprised either.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
I don't understand the running and holding complaints either tbh. He didn't really run much at all, he stood his ground in the centre of the ring slip the shots and counter and would all night long was in complete control. The holding happened quite a bit for the first 3 or 4 rounds but after that not really.
Was like watching the Mayweather-Marquez fight, embarrassing how in control Mayweather was can't say i'm surprised as it's been my stance all along whenever a discussion about this fight has been brought up but still really in awe when you see it in practice.

Doesn't make it less shit and boring, the whole reason the sport is going to die soon. No big stars worth seeing. imagine paying to watch this snoozefest
I just said the winner of a match usually should be the one most beat up, this was more of a jab contest.
Last time I ever watch something lighter than middleweight.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
To me looks like boxing is rated as if you would rate a football match on stats only. I've seen the stats of the fight and was surprised how superior Mayweather was:
Didn't reflect what I saw in the ring though. Maybe statistically he walked it and landed more jabs etc. but the end result, how struck the boxers were at the end, didn't really look much different (both looked pretty much unscathed ). Just different styles. It's like a football match ending 0-0 and the winner is determined by who made more passes and had more possession. Optically Mayweather was always the one walking backwards and hugging. As an amateur who has no clue I'd say Pac was the dominant fighter who tried to do something. Declaring him a clear loser is weird for me. But what do I know? Fights should probably really go until someone is knocked out or something.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Yes i did, although i enjoy watching the technical aspect of counter punching much more than i do watching a mindless brawl.
I can appreciate the skill necessary to do it, like Xavi passing it sideways a million times it might not be the most entertaining thing to most people but i appreciate the technical ability involved.
I was in awe of the skill involved yet again and i respect the ability to be able to make your opponent look like he's a child.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Trying to do something and failing is still failing
He threw a lot of punches but a lot of them were either blocked or missed completely, Mayweather on the other hand would consistently hit Pacquaio and not get hit himself.
He was in complete and utter control outside of two rounds, Boxing is a sport of hitting your opponent and not getting hit yourself.
Mayweather is the king of that and demonstrated it again last night.

Manny fought like a noob, Floyd was brushing away all his punches and getting hits in, it was a very one sided fight.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Pretty sure it was intended to be about knocking your opponent out in the start, because it was also bareknuckled.
It just doesn't make sense how you can be superior in a sport where you're sopposed to hit eachother, when your opponent isn't the least shaken up
Looked like they just wanted to get the money.

But that's because someone set the rules like that, not a law of nature which necessarily makes the most sense. In football equivalent terms: If a fighter knocks another fighter out that's like one football team winning the game (1-0, 2-1, 5-0, whatever, one team wins). Well and dandy. But if no one gets knocked out, saying that "hitting and not getting hit" determines the winner is somewhat like determing the winner of a 0-0, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 football match by comparing the amount of shots on target and shots conceded. Seems also not fair towards fighters who can actually take punches physically. Maybe Mayweather is superb at dodging and countering but what if there is a fighter who doesn't care about all those little jabs because he can easily take blows? For a fighting sport that should be more important than pure amount of punches landed that might not even have much of an effect on the opponent.
Anyway, just an amateur opinion. I'm not going to change the sport. Maybe they should rename it though. "Hit and dodge" maybe? I guess that's why I like football so much. Is there any other sport where a team can statistically "lose" (less possession, less passes, less shots, less corners, less time spent in the opponent's half) but come up as winners regardless?

Nope in the amateur game( which is very faithful to boxing origins) its basically scored on how many hits you land, works a little different in the pros as aggression and control is a factor.
I think you are quite confused, being hurt or causing damage is not a factor at all. Well that's not true it is a factor but it has nothing to do with the end result unless you actually cause damage.
You can easily go through an entire career without doing so, Mayweather is 48-0 based on it

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
What an underwhelming fight.
Mayweather is the Chelsea/ Atletico of boxing. Boring defensive strategy, quick jabs, duck and jog away- tally up the points and win by the score system.
Pacman tried but coulnt get near Mayweather's excellent block and move speciality of his.
Stayed up till 7am for that garbage. Feel physically effed right now.
Kudos on the pre-hype towards the fight. Hell of a promotion
