Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
I think it will be more useful to Play Gerrard in the away leg when we will actually Counter attack. Also he becomes sometimes a passenger when he starts a game. I would start exactly the same team as in the last game. I want Borini to start, an actual striker

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Can you explain why you think it'd be more useful to play him in a counter attacking side please? Maybe you see something I don't, so yeah genuine question.
Because the way I see it, he's not exactly Xabi Alonso/Pirlo and has defensive issues/positioning in a deeper role. He'd just get targeted from Mourinho in that role too because Mou isn't stupid and Gerrard is slow on the turn/the ball.
And he doesn't have the legs to play in a more advanced role on the break?

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
No I am not saying that we should Play Gerrard deep, of course in advanced role. I have more concerns over his defensive contribution. I think having hardworking Coutinho, Sterling and Borini will create problems for their midfield. Matic did struggle against Spurs because of the continuous movements of their attack-didnt watch the complete game but bits and pieces. I think Players are more mobile when Gerrard doesnt Play.
When we Play away game Rodgers perfers to play compact and and playing Gerrard in that game would help because I doubt anyone can Play a quick intelligent pass as him in our Team, may be only Coutinho. I think he can manage himself in a counter attacking side.

Getting nervous. Hope we can pull it off, but always have problems with teams that sit deep and counter.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
If Sterling doesnt has space too run into, No point playing him lone. Balotelli should start this IMO.
Even though we have been winning a lot, We arent really creating clear cut chances that make me feel confident every other game and now its against the best CB's in the league.
Ibe is cup tied and Sturridge is injured

Gerrard wouldn't be in my starting line up - not here nor at the Bridge - since we're going to be playing the 3-4-3. There's no position in that formation that Gerrard has the legs to play efficiently for 90 minutes.

I think he can manage the odd games. Besides he was rested in the last game as well. Also, He doesn't have to play 90 minutes, I would bring in Lallana in the second half. There's no position in that formation that Gerrard has the legs to play efficiently for 90 minutes.
My greatest concern is regarding the #9 (false or otherwise). Raheem has good movement but poor finishing, Borini has average movement & finishing and Lambert has poor movement but good finishing.
Anyway, another late-night for me. Come on Reds...

Sounds like you need Fahecky Stambini, although a Racky Lambling could be a not-so-average alternative
Anyway, rooting for you lads. Hope you pull it off.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
If it were up to me:
Bring on Gerrard for Coutinho sometime in the second half and switch to a 1-2 up front instead of a 2-1 with Sterling and Borini providing movement for Gerrard who can sit in the hole and play a similar role to his deeper one, but without the defensive responsibility.
Can - Skrtel - Sakho
Markovic - Henderson - Lucas - Enrique
Coutinho - Sterling
Borini

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Confirmed #LFC team v @ChelseaFC: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Sakho, Lucas, Henderson, Gerrard, Moreno, Markovic, Coutinho, Sterling
Confirmed #LFC subs v @ChelseaFC: Ward, Enrique, Lambert, Manquillo, Lallana, Borini, Rossiter
Well no matter what we think BR has put in the strongest lineup according to him i suppose.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
So:
Honestly I would prefer to have Enrique over Moreno because Moreno leaves us wayyyy to open to the counter and Chelsea could bury us with it. I hope he proves me wrong.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Just watch Gerrard jogging towards the ball from his CAM position and play first-time backward or sideways passes, because he cannot turn with the ball or dribble with it, something you'd need from a CAM. Going to be the weak link in that team.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Needless & careless penalties like that are the most frustrating to concede. We've played otherwise pretty good, but not creating much in terms of good chances.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Hard to create good chances when Chelsea is allowed to play with their hands in the box IMO.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Not complaining about the penalty (though it was funny as he wasn't looking to score and was going down before even being challenged). He was diving all over the place.
