Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Liverpool hosts Chelsea in the first-leg of Capital One Cup semi-finals. We haven’t won against them in last five encounters and more importantly, we have lost in the last three encounters. Chelsea is leading the League Table with a whooping 17 points advantage on us. They have got quality all through the field and then some on the bench as well. However, don’t be surprised if Mourinho has few pages in his notebook which looks like this:
Mignolet makes more than the occasional blunders but be certain of this, he will throw himself at you if you are inside his box. Then there’s that Thug. Even if you want to stay away from him, he will chase you. On his left is this beast that makes a giraffe look slick. But those who took their chances aren’t so sure anymore. On the right is some kid from Neverkusen who loves nothing more than beating the shit out of you.
On either sides of midfield they got two kids, nothing special. Just fast as Ferrari, good control & link-up and thunderous shots. Lucas is their DM but he is no Matic. But he will keep snapping at your heels until you give-up the ball. Finally you have Henderson, whom they bought for some ludicrous amount, playing tirelessly box-to-box the whole 90 minutes. Come to think of it, he also has a good array of passes and gets into the spaces quiet intelligently.
In the attack you will probably find Gerrard & Coutinho paired together. Yes, yes, that Gerrard; boy didn’t we had a laugh!!! Just make sure he doesn’t get an inch to shoot or pass and don’t, for the love of god, concede a free-kick within 30 meters of your goal. Coutinho can barely shoot so worries there. But he is feisty brat and can pass amazingly well. They will probably field Sturridge as striker. Well, he is no Costa. How can he be??? They paid barely half of what we paid for Costa .

Well, they're the best team in England right now. Needless to say it will be difficult to get the better of them over a two-legged affair.
Chelsea have won all but one of their home games in all competitions this season, Schalke got a draw from Stamford Bridge. So, we probably must win this home leg to have a chance to reach the final.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
If Gerrard starts this we are probably screwed IMHO.
But we go into this with form and confidence, Let's give a good performance at Anfield atleast. They are a superior team.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
I would like to point out that we matched them in our last game against them despite them winning 2 - 1 (with two missed penalties for us, and their 2nd goal being offside). That was also before we switched formation and were in poor form.
We can totally take it to them. If Tottenham can put up a 5 spot on Chelsea we can too.

Mou hates us, so will play a strong side.
We might get a positive result, but can't see us winning over 2 legs against him.

I guess we will stick with 343 and depending on the fitness of Gerrard, it's a toss-up between him & Borini. Although, I would have been tempted to use something different.

I hope Stevie plays. I have also have good vibes about him in these semis.
I really really think we want this cup more than them.
And what's the official status on Studger? I was under the impression that this would be the game he'll be finally back for.

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
Sturridge will barely make the second SF leg Mc.
I think our best shot is with Borini or Lambert, This match. Sterling will get frustrated as Terry and Cahill are too good for him when he has his back to them all the time imo.

What you talking bout Willis
I dislike both Rodgers and Mourinho? Only difference is I actually respect Mourinho, doesn't necessary mean I "love" him. I don't even like him.

Leaked team:
Mignolet – Emre Can, Škrtel, Sakho – Marković, Henderson, Lucas, Moreno – Gerrard, Coutinho – Sterling, if everything is ok with Gerrard.

Really can't see how.
They're going to play deep and will play not to concede. lol
Won't be much space for Raheem to run into.

RA is right there, no way we'll be coming to attack.
We'll be sitting back and countering, imo.

I still think the pair of Lucas and Hendo would get exposed too much against a tricky midfield like Hazard, Oscar and Fabregas. The only way to stop them is collective pressing from Markovic, Hendo, Lucas, Coutinho and Sterling. It will be interesting to see how we handle it when Chelsea counter attack. So I wont play Gerrard from the start.
my post from Lucas thread Our team is doing quite fine without Gerrard. So please BR start him in the away leg and probably in Bolton game but not today.

It's better to play him now than at SB....
He's still our best goal scorer and we need a goal to take to the Bridge (he's playing more in the final third now, not as a DM so it should be fine). We need an alternative X factor rather than trying to play around 8 blue shirts in the box so it's better he plays where we as a team actually want to score rather than to play on the counter and hope for individual brilliance, which he doesn't have the legs to do in open play anymore...

Re: Liverpool vs. Chelsea
I think it will be more useful to Play Gerrard in the away leg when we will actually Counter attack. Also he becomes sometimes a passenger when he starts a game. I would start exactly the same team as in the last game. I want Borini to start, an actual striker
