Koscienly brings stability, speed and great awareness to our back 4. He's he has made a few awful decisions in the past which led to red card or penalty, but he is easily our best CB and one of the best in the league. And as he'll grow older he'll only get better.

It's a little unfair to criticize Koscielny for the goals. No defender in the world is going to get first to every ball into the box. If it falls favourably for the attacker, he's going to get to it first. It's easy to criticize the closest defender and often there's reason, too, but not always. Arsenal didn't lose because of Koscielny, they lost because they were not good enough collectively.

I stand my my criticism of the over-hyping of Kos generally, but Art is also correct. In the majority of cases, the entire defence (and team) is responsible for conceding a goal. In a zonal marking system, the back 4 defend as a unit. Any blame must be apportioned to more than 1 player in most cases. Of course, there are some times when individuals go out on a limb and break strategy or show poor quality in their tackling or marking. However, often I find that individuals are made scapegoats for a team's collective mistakes. Then again, there are some individual defenders who think themselves above the system and are constantly out of order.

Koscielny is extremely overrated lol, he's basically the french Vermealen and has the exact same strengths and weaknesses.

He constantly makes extremely erratic and irrational mistakes on a weekly basis due to being far too aggressive and often leaves Mertesacker alone on a island.

Because he sometimes recovers due to pace doesn't mean it's OK and doesn't mean it doesn't lead to the defence being exposed.

It's not anything new either before anyone starts, it's been the case his entire career.

Koscielny is a great defender who, like every defender, occasionally makes rash and stupid decisions. People are just knee-jerking his poor performance.

Still a class defender in my opinion and I wouldn't mind even now Barca buying him for 25 million euros or so.

Mole is right he is overrated, not generally but by Gunners.

What games I have been watching? A lot. This is not a knee jerk. He is a good defender but not as good as some people make him out to be. I have seen him concede a lot of stupid penalties and throw the game away from his rashness, it's not possible to remember what those specific games were. I think one of them was France vs Ukraine 1st leg of World Cup playoffs which France lose 2-0.

And then Spurs spend all that money on buying shite players, while the shite the palm off to Madrid performs hot and cold before being flogged off to, idk United or something..

9/10 story. Wud give 10/10 if Barca buying injured Diaby for € 20M to play at CB would have been part of the story.
