Re: Carlo Ancelotti sack watch
Very odd choice by Carlo and I do not see what would even suit him in Everton for him to work with let alone the fact that European contention is out of the question for the Merseyside club, his hallmark.
If this happens I see Carletto having an underwhelming tenure unless he is given time, freedom to choose yet the timing could not be worse for both clubs and Moyes should be the choice to have him returned to Everton.

Carletto has been done for a good half a decade at least, more like a full decade. There are so many decent younger managers around I'll be surprised if he is ever appointed at a top team again.

Everton are officially a West Ham and I'm loving it

Actually don't think Ancelotti will fall for this, don't see it happening
won the CL with Real 5 years ago, Bundesliga title and CL semi (in which we were shafted by the ref) after that, but nvm

Re: Carlo Ancelotti sack watch
And a bald jabroni came a year later and won CL for them what twice with that stacked team like Madrid. Not to mention Carletto lost La Liga very early.
Also don't pretend like winning bundesliga is a feat

I think Bayern fans are learning to appreciate winning the bundesliga since they might not this season

Would it (if it really happens) mean a step down for Ancelotti or a show of intent for Everton?

It could be neither. It could be nature's way of replacing the old guards by ushering in the new.
4 or 5 years ago, I never would've thought Carlo would coach Napoli or Mourinho would even entertain the idea of managing Spurs, but here they are.
At the end of the idea, a manager is only as good as the offers they're getting. And if you fail to stay as successful as you once were, elite clubs will shift their sights to other managers.

Big step down for Carlo. Not sure why he's taking the Everton job. He'll get better opportunities if he waits until the summer. There aren't many available top managers out there.

Is Ancelotti a top manager any longer? His teams have achieved the bare minimum for a while now.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti sack watch
He was great at Madrid. Great at Bayern imo (as results have shown after he left). Napoli have overachieved imo too.
Was great at PSG.
Honestly, he's a thoroughly professional elite manager. About as safe a bet as you can go if you're a top team.

How exactly was he great at all those clubs? The 2014 CL win with Madrid, that's great, yes. Winning league titles with PSG and Bayern is nothing special. Napoli finished 2nd in Serie A under Sarri, then 2nd under Ancelotti and in his second season they slipped to mid-table. To suggest he's been a great, elite manager this decade is nonsense. I wouldn't be surprised if this Everton job turned out to be his last for a while, at least on club level.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti sack watch
I watched those teams quite a bit (Madrid and PSG especially). They played fantastic football and always competed well in big games.
At Madrid, Di Maria was replaced by James despite Di Maria being, by far, our best player the year we finally won our 10th CL. The left side of Marcelo, Di Maria and CR was unstoppable. Defensively, we went down the toilet with James. But Perez will be Perez.
Bayern... they competed despite two aging stars who still thought they were great but clearly long in the tooth. Namely, Ribery and Robben. He had to manage that situation and did it about as well as one could.
Was absolutely sensational at PSG. Took a team that acted like an elite club to actually functioning like an elite one. I can't explain to you how good he was here. Went from a club that featured Kombouare as the manager... and Pastore, Lavezzi and Nene as the key players.... to replacing veterans with kids such as Verratti and Rabiot (he gave them their shot and made them regulars) and managed the ego of Ibra... while getting great results. Honestly the best version of PSG to date imo under Carlo. The entire manner of practicing and setting up tactically went from that of a mid table team to an elite one.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti sack watch
Its pretty well known Morty does not watch a league outside of Premier League so rather hard to see how he can make such an acute statement such as that even if Carlo has been frustrating as always.
I'd reply to that but Sports summed it up perfectly above. Exact reference point of what he did right and did not do.
Everton is mostly definitely a step down and really is a nothing club of sorts and its a rather boring appointment to see him go there.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti sack watch
To be completely direct, Carlo would be the perfect Italy NT manager. Only time i would have feared them because he is so good at setting up teams in cup games. Mancini, despite nice results in qualifying, is not a big game manager at all.

Whats been the problem at Napoli though? Dont know them enough. Thought they have been pretty consistent in recent years, but lately the owner have been angry since they been dropping off?

He's still got it. Simply a good manager. And what a man.
Question is when the presence of his scrub son will get on the players nerves
