Who will go through to the Final?
Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
Germany vs Dutch is likely to be the final whoever is going to lose in going to suffer depression .

Jusr for one reason I want it to be Niederland vs Germany...to wipe out this myth of South American teams in South America
also for that friendly atmosphere here at the border

Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
If Robben plays like this then Argentina have no reason to be scared of him. I see that he is overhyped too much in this world cup

Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
Are you serious or i posted different video by mistake? Didnt dribble a player without diving, didnt deliver a normal cross from free kicks, didnt create a chance entire match. Didnt have a shot on target. Just tell me what he did then maybe i will agree with you

Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
But after Costa Rica match he crowned as the best by some unknown group. His reputation raised. I wondered for what. So i decided rewatch it and didnt understand a thing. So i decided that its because of his hard work and diving replays. He is not that dangerous as people describe
His only show happened against desperate Spain side in 5-1 match. V.Persie scored and Spain decided to attack with full force. Robben got space and scored. Then series of mistakes by casillas and spain. Other teams decided to defend and Robben's influence is reduced.
So Argentina should not focus only on him. Holland have 3-4 players as important as Robben. Just play like costa rica and dont worry about robben

Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
You can't "just play like Costa Rica" lol, they had the best offside trap in the tournament by a country mile + KNavas the beast incarnate.
Argentina have Atletico legend Demicheillis who is actually very good at offside traps but overall Argentina are not suited towards just bunkering down in their own box so playing like Costa Rica isn't an option.
EDIT: Worded this poorly, I'm saying that playing like Costa Rica isn't an option.

Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
Reason that offside trap was so good was how well drilled the team is, coach clearly worked on it.

Saying Argentina should "just play like Costa Rica"
in other news there are rumors De Jong could play after a Dutch newspaper reported he trained with the team.
Don't know how credible it is though and its admittedly very unlikely.

BarrileteCosmico wrote:I'm 100% serious. He has yet to play a game where he has been great. So far all he's done is shine at a few points, but I think most people would agree that you can have bad games in spite of scoring and he's had a couple of those games.
I think I replied to a similar comment of yours but once again. More than playing well it's the decisive moments that matter. In WC 2010 he played better for 90 minutes but what came of it and who cares two hoots about that now. In this world cup even with what he has done so far he will be remembered as one of the best players and if he can actually win the trophy he will become Maradona II.
Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
The Franchise wrote:His general play has been worse than 2010, in general play he was the best player in 2010 in my opinion.
But in 2010, he didnt have end product in the games. Whereas Snijeder for example who did very little in general play had tremendous end results, somehow he scored 3-4 deflected goals..now Messi is having great ends results while doing not much in the general sense.
You would much rather have the latter. Even though it looks worse, in the end it gets you results...Messi nor Argentina can afford to be picky about that at this stage.
Very well explained

To what you said we can also add mental toughness and luck.

The Franchise wrote:It is I feel (clouding your judgement).
Every team concedes chances, but for me Argentina are better at the back than I imagined they would be.
Rojo, Garay and Mascherano have had pretty good team tournaments so far. Maybe even better than than good.
Zab is Zab, he is basically reliable and I dont expect him to have a shocker at this point. Demi I have confidence in aslong as the game doesnt get out of hand in terms of pace.
Rojo up against Robben is much less one sided than I would have imagined pre tournament. This obviously will be the toughest test for him but he has done his reputation good so far.
Very well said. Agree completely.
Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Germany's defense looked like complete garbage against Ghana and Algeria but when it mattered they limited France to very little.
Germany's defence against Algeria was for me the worst in this tournament including all the minnows. Or maybe only Pique of the Spain vs. Holland game could compete. The key point though is what you said that it doesn't matter any more since this is a team which is able to get over their weaknesses quite often.
Re: Semi-Final: Argentina Vs Netherlands
Ganso wrote:I was discussing this with a friend of mine, this WC could be the greatest vengeance story in football history if Holland win it.They destroyed Spain(10), would beat Argentina (78) and could win against Germany in the final (74).Another reason for me to support the dutch.
Excellent point even though I don't share the sentiment for understandable reasons

If I could I would abolish 3rd place matches at world cups.
