Historically best game? By that argument friendlies are more enjoyable than world cups.

After players have just missed their dream of playing a world cup final I would prefer they go home and be with their near and dear ones than prepare for days and then play a meaningless friendly just to spin some money for the powers that be.

This game was played way before money entered football though. It's been around since 50's so I don't get the "powers that be" argument.

Third place games are usually fun open affairs held in a good atmosphere. Also it's still a world cup game so the top scorer race or even the Golden Ball is usually a talking point. Historically it's a credit to the tournament.

The World Cup is fine as it is, no need to change it so players can spend an extra day with little timmy lol

Fine then zealous we will agree to disagree on this. I accept your point that it's not just about money but also tradition but I stick to my point that after being knocked out in a semi final a team should not be asked to play another match so soon. Euro does not do it for instance.

Euro's used to do it but they stopped since the 80's I think.

Anyway agree to disagree, I get your point to be fair to you. I just think it adds to the tournament and it's one game that happens every four years so it's not that big a sacrifice.

No reason to be afraid of the german team. Yeah cool they beat Brazil 7:1. Big deal. I mean it obviously is really a big deal but at the end of the day it's one game and one game against a team that had no tactics at all while we have the best coach in the tournament who knows exactly what he has to do. Not saying they can't win or so but afraid? Really no reason to be.

For some reason I think Netherlands could nail this match, the Dutch squad have proven their prolific run upsetting tier-teams while Argentina needs their important players to gear-up, it's just Messi are doing most of the possible attempted goals. Though I see it will be a slim margin win.
However Netherlands should be wary with their yellow cards and some sort of physical games.

By the way, I expect a similar score line like in the Ger vs. Bra game (not 7-1 obviously but Netherlands will show the world how crap that Argie NT is). It's not about Messi or Robben, Netherlands as a collective is a really strong team which plays on counters for the most part but could launch an assault on a PTB as well. Argentine plays wannabe attacking footy in a very half hearted passion. There's no way they won't bow out by at least 2 goals difference against this Netherlands.
