Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Would be ludicrous to sell Santi after turning Cesc down especially when it would have essentially been an even transaction, we might have been making a profit as well.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Can anyone please tell me why we haven't sign Vela yet? His value is undoubtable, he knows English football, he plays both up front and in the wings at ease and he costs 3,5 bloody mil.
Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Come on gents its like you have never seen a world cup transfer window. It is always like this.
Liverpool have picked up a 33 year old for 12mil and one Rickie Lambert. City have only got a free agent because they offer stupid wages and Fernando who is not featuring in the world cup. Chelsea are the only club to have made a signing of significance and it was only by pure chance and opportunism.
Take comfort in the fact Man United are more desperate AND rich, yet also havent signed anyone yet. The Vela deal is only stalling because Wenger hasn't given up on Griezmann.

Emre Can is 20 not 33, if that's who you mean.

Could be any number of reasons why, but ones I can immediately think of are:
a) he doesn't want to come back, which is understandable. He's comfortable in Sociedad and in La Liga, much more than he was with us in the Premier League,
b) Arsenal have bigger and better targets or,
c) Arsenal just aren't looking at that sort player, happy with Walcott, Chamberlain, Gnabry, Podolski, Cazorla and possibly Campbell as options. So far the suggestion has been that a winger is not on our list of priorities currently.
Matt Law of The Telegraph reporting that Vermaelen has agreed a deal in principle with Man Utd, and now they need to agree a fee which could be as little as £10mil:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/10902101/Arsenal-captain-Thomas-Vermaelen-agrees-deal-to-join-Manchester-United-this-summer.html
Before anyone gets too concerned, Matt Law is the same journalist who has reported that we want James Milner for right back.

lol Matt Law
do hope that's completely untrue, Wenger gave his word he wouldn't sell to United again.

I'd sell Vermaelen for £15m+ should the offer come and use the money to sign a better 3rd choice CB. If not keep him for another season.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Why not bid for Lukaku you guys. Wenger can turn him into a PL beast IMO. Make those chavs regret and pay for there blunder once again.
Well if you are going for Benzema its fine, but you can also get lukaku for a bargain now I believe considering he is disillusioned under Mou and is wanting to leave.

There's no chance we'd get Lukaku even if he was a target, Mourinho wouldn't even give us Ba on loan.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Giving us Ba on loan means helping us without getting anything in return even weakening his side, of course he would decline to do that. But if you offer a good transfer fee for Lukaku, which Mourinho could use for a player he actually wants to have in his team, he'll give his OK like any sane man would do and like he did for Mata.
Two different situations really.
This is all considering Mourinho doesn't want Lukaku at Chelsea next season, which looks like is the case but we have to wait for official confirmation stillm

Benz' agent:
"Talks about renewing began quite a long time ago. We got together with Florentino Pérez last September, and then again in December, then in March and now, last Monday. It is true that his contract has not been extended, but Karim is a man of his word, and he told Florentino that he wants to remain at the club of his dreams for as long as possible. What is certain is that, whatever happens, he is not going to leave Real Madrid", Djaziri told the French paper L'Équipe.

Express and Daily Star claim we've bid £25m for Balotelli and that Puma are willing to help finance a move for him.

What's this about having to wait until Puma is announced to announce any new players...?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
They, and I don't know who "they" are, reckon that a new player, presumably one of Puma's players, will be announced along with the new kit for maximum exposure - marketing and all that. Sounds feasible, until you realise that this wouldn't really apply to Nike or Addidas players, so there's no reason why Arsenal wouldn't be able to announce players associated with them.
All sounds a like a convenient excuse for the business we've not done, tbh.
Or it could just be people misunderstanding this tweet from Puma:
"All things Arsenal are happening in early July. Looking forward to it?"
Which is obviously about the kits, and nothing else.

Mmmmm, yeah. I didn't read it anywhere reputable but I did see it multiple times so I was wondering where it came from.
But what do you mean about Nike and Adidas? Sure, we never announced players with kit releases but it's been 20 years since we changed sponsors.
Dat Balotelli Arsenal announcement in "early July"

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal could ask for Tom Cleverley and/or Chris Smalling as part of any deal seeing Vermaelen go to Man Utd:

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I'd love to have Balotelli at Arsenal all things considered.
If United think we're taking one of those two then they're going to have to pay us. And cover their wages.
Surely we'd ask for Chicharito before we asked for those two?

Well I'm pretty sure we offered a few million as part of the loan, but I get where you're coming from. Mata went to United who were poverty last season anyway, and United had already played Chelsea twice so he would also help take points away from other teams.urbaNRoots wrote:Giving us Ba on loan means helping us without getting anything in return even weakening his side, of course he would decline to do that. Balotelli hasn't yet made the bang.
Could Arsene really make him a functioning footballer?

Maybe that played a small part but Mourinho isn't so shortsighted as to sell a major player based on a couple months of play. They were genuinely satisfied with the amount of money given that the player didn't fit Mou's criteria.
So if the same goes with Lukaku, he has a price.
