Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal not moving for Remy now isn't necessarily indicative of a lack of interest, but more likely suggests that he's a third or fourth choice target that the club will only move for if they can't secure one of their more preferred choices.
I don't feel it's necessary for us to have three forwards, though. Giroud plus a new forward would be enough on its own, as well as having Sanogo or Akpom still around, and the options of Walcott and Podolski. Giroud, Remy plus another "top" forward guarantees that one of them will barely see the pitch unless we played with two strikers.

That's the cool thing, he only has a €10m release clause
If we can convince him to leave Atletico he's ours.

If Mourinho wouldn't loan us Ba..
There's a difference if a striker is forcing his way out but as a player I do like Lukaku.

I like him but even if we overlook the fact that Chelsea likely wouldn't sell to us, his price tag will be huge, especially if he has a good World Cup. I can see them asking for £30mil or more, easily.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
This is just conjecture but I'm curious to see if it's plausible or not.
If Chelsea have a £33million bid accepted for Cesc then that means Barca get £16.5million, yeah?
So wouldn't a £18-20million bid from Arsenal be more enticing? And cheaper?
Because I'm still unsure whether it's 50% of the profit or fee. Urban said it was fee* though.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
According to this, it's 50% of the fee, not the profit:

7amkickoff does a few comparisons based on stats & skill sets, concludes that £30 million or so on Alexis Sanchez would be a really good option for Arsenal.

Hmm.
So if Chelsea really are in with £33million then what do you guys think of popping in with a £18-20m bid? Still conjecture here.
Surely Cesc and Barca would be more willing + the price is considerably lower for a player I still believe we could use.
It would still be a £34million swing though. We'd be forgoing £16.5m from whoever buys him and investing a further £18m to actually buy him.

Bidding £33mil and getting 50% of that back due to the sell-on.
Waiving the sell-on and bidding £16.5mil.
It's the same deal, isn't it? Arsenal will end up spending the same amount either way, and Barcelona end up with the same amount of money received either way.
And this is assuming the sell-on works in the way we think it does.
EDIT: Lots of people saying it's 50% of the profits, which would make more sense; £33mil is similar to what Barcelona paid us initially, so they wouldn't have to owe us much money if they sold for that amount. If they were going to lose 50% of the fee the asking price would be much higher, I think.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
If Mata got ostracized under Mou.. Can only imagine the same sort of thing happening to Cesc. I mean, Cesc doesn't seem like the sort of player that Mou likes.. He'll just get benched for Oscar

I thought so too, seems like an Abramovich signing. But then you never know, maybe he's juzt tired of Oscar who's just not really that good.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It only took a few months for clubs to figure Barcelona out with Cesc, he failed everywhere he was deployed at least in that he affected everyone else's form negatively.
If he's set to partner Matic I'm really intrigued as to how that'll work.

Guys.. We need to buy Fabian Johnson. He has been so class at RB.
Can play in either fb position.. Or even in midfield. He'd slot in perfectly with us

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
You're in for a surprise if you think Fabian Johnson is the answer at RB. Plays a lot like the other "Johnson" you're familiar with seeing in that position: can be quite good in attack but is very inconsistent, particularly defensively.

Point remains very much the same.
The Daily Mail claim Balotelli is Arsenal's main striker target in a £20m move this summer.

According to Spanish sports daily, AS, Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay, one of the board of directors and vice president Ángel Oyarzun flew to London to secure the 50% rights retained by Arsenal following his sale to the Basque side last summer.

Like I said, all conjecture so it's the all the same, no matter the currency. Was talking about if it were fee as the Telegraph said it was.
Apparently we're after Schneiderlein and Grenier?
