You're being too kind, Hans. He is embarrassingly bad.

Re: World Cup: Group G discussion
seriously that USA midfielder Jones (dread lock guy hope I got name right) is really underrated, great midfielder low profile but does a tidy job in the middle, would seriously walk into the midfield of a lot of clubs in Europe ffs

Yes he did and he really shouldn't.
The amount of injuries Portugal are getting at this WC is ridicolous.
The guy is out there aggrevitating an injury that almost destroyed Nadal. Makes no sense really, don't see what he's trying to prove.

he doesn't even get into Schalke's midfield, though he's been trying for 10 years..

Re: World Cup: Group G discussion
yesterday, I gave the thumbs up for a draw against Portugal and a biscotto with Germany, but not like this; not when the win and qualification was sooo close ... 2 avoidable errors too ... everyone watching here in Austin fell into a stunned silence ...
this gif captures the gut-wrenching emotion -- replaying that moment over and over again in your mind's eye, noticing the clock and how close it really was:
bring on the biscotto, I guess ... but in a crazy World Cup, I'd love the next chapter in Group G to be Ghana doing Portugal in, while the Von Trapps take down Germany ...

Jermaine Jones has had a fantastic world cup so far. He played for Shalke for a long time, which is obviously in Europe the last time I checked.

Re: World Cup: Group G discussion
A draw means every team gets a chance on the last matchday. Epic final day coming.
Felt a draw was a fair result. The US played better (ie generated more clear scoring chances) but at the same time were dreadful defenders.

Hapless, I know we don't worry about Schalke at Bayern, but no need to devalue a player when the facts say otherwise. FFS, even this past season when the manager was over him he still reluctantly played Jones until he found a way to offload him.
Jermaine Jones problem is that he has never seen a tackle he doesn't like so he can often be a liability. Great player though, but you just worry that out of no where he is going to get a red card because he is bored.

Re: World Cup: Group G discussion
Well, if Pepe runs into Jermaine Jones or vice versa, I can see it resulting in a 10 vs 10 game. ^^

I'm pretty sure the collision would create a black hole.

Re: World Cup: Group G discussion
he had good and bad times at schalke, and a track records of getting into fights.
Didn't mean to devalue him, just rather that his career is a matter of record, he's not some gem underrated midfielder.

Re: World Cup: Group G discussion
What happens if Germany beat USA 2-1 and Ghana beat Portugal by the same margin as well? As both Ghana and USA will have same points GD goals forward and conceded.
Will USA progress due to the HtoH record with Ghana?
