The other players on the other hand rofl I swear to god Pepe is better on the ball than nearly that whole team. Ronaldo creating for others but they get cought by more hungrier Ghana players and gets into space only for a shit pass to be intercepted easily by the ghana midfielders/defenders.

Their passing looked like it was done between opposition players with how much they tried to avoid kicking it accurately to a team mate.

gosh this Portugal team is dreadful

lol this except for the penalty part

Portugal were so bad it was a joke, which makes the defeat even more painful.

Half of the team looked like they could barely control a ball let alone make an accurate pass

Vierinha, Nani and Veloso rofl

Lol I know, I was getting angry that we were not winning because they were so s**t

We do well sitting back and countering, but only if we choose to defend in-between midfield and the final third. When we sit too high we are prone to balls over the top, but the real problem is that with this formation we tend to sit too deep and give up a lot of space on the wings (which will kill us against Belgium). Sitting deep has led to all 3 goals going into the game against Germany.

I don't have an issue with the lineups, but we are heavy in the midfield, so I am not sure why Jurgen isn't having the team defend more through possession given that we have shown ourselves more than capable of doing so against most teams.

Regarding Bradley, the formation (and where we have him sitting in it) doesn't exactly fit what we are expecting him to do so the normal channels that would be open aren't there because he is stuck in-between the moving parts of a very defensive formation. When we sit too deep he doesn't have anyone to outlet the ball to but sideways or back, but when we start to press and control the midfield no one is making runs for him to do anything but pass to where the man is standing. For the most part every time I have seen Bradley attempt a pass to where the man should be the runner has failed to make the run. Honestly, I think if we continue with these "tactics" it would be best if we give Jones the tip of the diamond and allow Bradley to occupy the space he loves in-between the central points of the midfield.

Most of all I think we just need to stop showing so much respect to our opposition at the start of the game given that every game thus far we have shown that we can hang with any opposition we come against.

Right now though our defensive tactics do not bode well for the Belgium fixture.

Agree with just about everything here. Agree that we need to come out of our defensive shells a whole lot more, but I also think it's important that we have the right players to do it. Belgium has speed and technique in their attack...dangerous for our defenders, who are not the quickest off the mark. if we play a more open game, we're going to open our still fragile defense up for some incisive opposing attacks. A risky, risky tactic, but if anyone's got the balls to try that against a side like this, I think it's Juergen.

As for Bradley, I still can't bring myself to blame him. I am quite objective, but I am also a fanboy so i will make no apologies for that. That said, I legit think he's not being played in his best position. It's not DM (as we saw with Roma) and it's not AM (as we've seen over this past few games). He must be given the freedom to play 2-way football. Having all of the creative impetus on his shoulders is proving to a be a burden when he's back in our box snuffing out opposing attacks while then having to start our own. Really think we need to play him further back in the midfield, just beyond Beckerman and Jones...have Bedoya/Zusi or Mix/Davis tuck in and support Deuce up front. I think that works a whole lot better as it allows MB the freedom to do what he does best: exploit the space, making ghosting runs and really dictate play from deep. He's got the attributes for a regista and instead Juergen's playing him like a trequartista and I think it's clear now that he's not built like that.

They did find him in some good position and he missed some sitters by my gosh they were still shite. The amount of balls that were misplaced under no pressure, balls that were mis-controlled and went out for throw ons. This under no pressure, I dunno how they even made it to the WC tbh

An injured Cr came to WC for what????  Laughing let see...

1. to check Brazillian Barber shops, how good they are
2. to take a freekick straight at the feet of one man wall
3. to cry for penalty in every game
4. to be only captain to call his team an average
5. to walk in the grass field and check his new Nike boots
6. to help Nike sales in WC
7. to be in the WC newspapers no matter for what

Sorry if i missed something  :coffee:

To make sure USA went through and Ghana went home  Very Happy ...

On a side note, I've seen high school squads with better ball retention and control than the Portugal  squad which participated in this World Cup.  Portugal had no chance at this world cup period.  I don't even think prime Maradona could have done anything for that squad.  I think there would of been a greater uproar if Ronaldo stayed home and didn't participate in the World Cup from his teammates, sponsors, and the Portuguese fan base.  I'm glad he's finally going to get the rest he deserves because any unbiased person who saw Ronaldo play in this world cup could clearly tell you he was nowhere near fit to play.

i wonder what ronaldo's reaction if he play with the more average teammates like what riquelme had in boca 2008-2014

riquelme can make this portugal team look great based on his performance in the past

Really nice to see a fan of Klinsmann here since I think he has been vilified very often and mostly unfairly.
